Professional wrestling must use the Sphere in Las Vegas

As a lifelong combat sports enthusiast who has attended more matches than I can count, I must say that the UFC Noche event at the Las Vegas Sphere was nothing short of breathtaking. The blend of cutting-edge technology and high-octane action left me yearning for more, and it got my wheels turning: What if professional wrestling took the stage at this marvelous venue?

On September 14th, I had the privilege of attending UFC’s event at the Las Vegas Sphere, an evening filled with intense battles and two title switches. The event, UFC Noche, was lauded by fans, critics, and media alike for its grandeur. Reflecting on that spectacular showcase, I can’t help but wish that professional wrestling would seize the same stage and deliver a performance that fans would never forget.

The Sphere is a state-of-the-art auditorium seating 18,600 people, boasting advanced video and audio experiences for its live audience. Highlights include a colossal 16K resolution LED screen, immersive 4D physical effects, cutting-edge wave field synthesis technologies, and many other exciting features. UFC Noche was the inaugural sporting event held there, offering combat sports enthusiasts a glimpse of what lies ahead. It’s now time for professional wrestling to build upon this foundation, taking things to the next level.

On Monday, according to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful, Tony Khan is considering hosting an AEW event at The Sphere. It’s intriguing to speculate about the unique ways All Elite Wrestling might utilize this venue. Since WWE and UFC share a partner organization under TKO Group Holdings, it would be fascinating to discover if Triple H and Nick Khan also have plans for The Sphere. Each year, WWE enhances the production quality of WrestleMania, so envisioning what a Pay-Per-View event could look like in a venue like this stirs excitement.

Reflect on some of the most memorable wrestling entrance moments in professional wrestling history. With the advanced technology at The Sphere, these entrances would be even more spectacular with enhanced lighting and music effects. The promotional videos used to build anticipation for matches before walkouts – imagine viewing them on a screen like the one found in this venue. The possibilities are limitless.

Putting on The Sphere event carried a substantial financial investment, with both revenue generation and venue costs totaling over $20 million. Despite this significant outlay, the UFC’s show was an impressive spectacle that professional wrestling could envy yet again when returning to Las Vegas.
