Prison Architect 2 Has Now Been Delayed Indefinitely

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent behind bars managing my very own digital prisons, I must admit, I was eagerly anticipating the release of Prison Architect 2. The trailer looked promising, and the idea of stepping into a more immersive 3D world had me hooked. However, hearing about yet another delay has become as common as seeing inmates breaking rules in my virtual prisons.

As a gaming enthusiast, I was eagerly waiting for Prison Architect 2’s launch on September 3rd, but it seems that my anticipation has hit a roadblock. Paradox Interactive and their new developer Kokku have decided to postpone the release of Prison Architect 2 indefinitely. If you were among those who pre-ordered the game, fear not! Your investment will be refunded, and the pre-order bonuses will now be integrated into the main game content.

The hold-up in release is because we’re working on enhancing both the performance and content of Prison Architect 2, which seems to be quite extensive. In essence, it appears that the game needs a thorough refining process. According to Paradox, their statement goes something like this: “We want to elevate the quality further in order to reach the level of excellence we aim for with this sequel.”

We’re excitedly anticipating that the next installment of Prison Architect will be fantastic, offering fresh concepts such as transitioning to a 3D environment, incorporating multiple floors, and an innovative behavior system. These enhancements will add depth to the game and provide players with exciting new gameplay opportunities.

“Nonetheless, it’s crucial for us to ensure that the game aligns with the legacy of the franchise. Our aim is to release a version that meets your expectations as players and also appeases the Prison Architect 2 teams at Kokku and Paradox Interactive, since Double Eleven has been replaced by Kokku.”

The developer, Paradox, mentions they can’t set a definite launch date yet, because they are currently evaluating the extent of work needed to polish the game and prepare it for release.

“We firmly believe postponing the release of Prison Architect 2 is the optimal choice. This decision gives us extra time to ensure the game offers an exceptional experience that aligns with the esteemed reputation of Prison Architect. Regrettably, we find ourselves needing to make this announcement; however, we are convinced it will lead to a superior game for you.”
