Princess Eugenie reveals details about life-changing trip to India
As a fervent admirer of Princess Eugenie, I can’t help but be awestruck by her unwavering commitment to fighting modern slavery across the globe. Her life-altering journey to India and encounter with those young girls in Calcutta not only opened her eyes to the horrors that exist but also ignited a fire within her that burns ever so brightly.
Without her journey to India during her twenties, Princess Eugenie might not have grasped the importance of combating global modern slavery.
According to reports from GB News, Princess Eugenie shared that she helped establish The Anti-Slavery Collective following encounters with a group of teenage girls in Calcutta, India. These young ladies had been freed from a distressing condition where they faced mistreatment, negligence, and exploitation.
Listening to the accounts shared by those young women inspired the Duchess of York to inform the general public about the widespread issue of contemporary slavery. She also aimed to highlight the various organizations, campaigns, and advocates working tirelessly to combat this problem.
Princess Eugenie’s lifelong mission
In 2017, The Anti-Slavery Collective was established by Princess Eugenie and her partner Julia de Boinville, following years of investigations into the causes sustaining modern slavery. Currently, Princess Eugenie is highlighting a series of brief films, collectively known as “My Epiphany.” These thought-provoking films can be accessed on The Anti-Slavery Collective’s official website and social media platforms.
GB News reports that these short films show commentary from journalists, business leaders, activists, and retired police officers who all strongly oppose modern-day slavery worldwide. The Anti-Slavery Collective’s artistic productions are also instrumental in providing educational resources to numerous schools and communities. This charitable organization aims to assist the United Nations in fulfilling its aim of eradicating global human trafficking by 2030.
Sarah Ferguson, the mother of Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, is among the notable advocates for The Anti-Slavery Collective. This charity has previously garnered support from various famous figures. As reported by GB News, their inaugural gala took place in November 2023.
It’d be great if the charity could organize more events like these in the future, helping them gain more attention and strengthen their efforts in tackling one of the most disheartening issues facing today’s society.
