The mythical stories about the late music legend Prince continue to emerge to this day.
A recent Vanity Fair article offers a look inside Hollywood’s famous parties from the 2000s, and also shares details about the extravagant life of Prince.
According to Jason Pomeranc, who helped create Thompson Hotels, Prince would sometimes play shows at Teddy’s until morning simply because he was in the mood.
He recalled how Prince would unexpectedly perform impromptu concerts at Teddy’s nightclub, sometimes until 4 or 5 AM, simply because he wanted to. These spontaneous shows happened often. If you missed one – or missed a surprise appearance by someone like Courtney Love – that was it; there was no social media announcement or recording. He believes this encouraged people in LA to go out more and experience things firsthand.
He also revealed the Purple Rain hitmaker would ‘only eat pancakes for days’.
Prince often stayed in the penthouse, which we remodeled with his request for white shag rugs and a purple color scheme. He sometimes would only eat pancakes for several days in a row.

Prince, the incredibly talented musician behind hits like “Kiss,” “1999,” and “Let’s Go Crazy,” tragically passed away on April 21, 2016, at the age of 57. He died from an accidental overdose of the drug fentanyl at his home, Paisley Park, in Chanhassen, Minnesota. He won seven Grammy Awards during his career.
Prince had an incredibly successful career, releasing 39 albums. However, he also created a large collection of unreleased songs and recordings, which he stored in a specially-built vault beneath his house.
Since then, his estate has released several collections of songs he hadn’t previously published.
Originally from Minneapolis, this musician distinguished himself from his peers starting in the late 1970s by blending a wide range of genres – including funk, rock, R&B, soul, pop, synth-pop, new wave, jazz, blues, and hip-hop – into his music. His unique sound was so influential that other artists began recording his songs.
With over 100 million records sold globally, the artist behind ‘Sign O’ The Times’ is one of the most successful musicians ever.
Prince was a highly decorated artist, winning seven Grammy Awards and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
During his lifetime, he starred on the big screen in the legendary Purple Rain.
In 1984, Warner Bros. released a unique rock musical film featuring original music by and the acting debut of Prince.

It was directed by Albert Magnoli and written by Magnoli and William Blinn.
The film grossed close to $100 million worldwide and won the Oscar for Best Original Score.
The soundtrack features classics including I Would Die 4 U, Let’s Go Crazy, and When Doves Cry.
The album’s soundtrack was highly acclaimed, winning two Grammys, three American Music Awards, and two Brit Awards. It also topped the Billboard 200 chart for an impressive 24 weeks.
Prince blended rock, R&B, soul, disco, and hip-hop into a distinctive sound, and over his four-decade career, he sold over 100 million records.
