Prince William surrounds himself with sycophants and needs Prince Harry to bring him down to earth, claims Princess Diana’s confidante Tina Brown
As a seasoned observer of the ever-evolving world of celebrity, I must say that this week’s news has been quite the rollercoaster ride! From the flamboyant gestures of Elton John to the black-and-white daringness of Simone Ashley, it seems like the stars are truly living their lives without a care in the world.
Last week, Prince William shared his upcoming approach to his position within the monarchy, expressing that he intends to perform his duties with a more humble and down-to-earth attitude, as represented by a lowercase ‘r’ in the word ‘royal’.
However, Tina Brown, a renowned royal biographer, found his remarks during the trip to South Africa quite underwhelming when addressed to reporters who accompanied him.
Previously at the helm of Vanity Fair, a woman who dined with Princess Diana mere weeks prior to her passing, alleges that Prince Charles did not demonstrate enough reverence towards King Charles. Furthermore, she asserts that Prince William tends to associate with individuals who excessively flatter him.
According to Brown, it was Prince Harry who kept his brother from losing touch with reality by keeping him grounded.
In a post on her Fresh Hell blog, Brown, aged 70, expresses that William’s boastful interview following his Earthshot Prize trip to South Africa did not improve the atmosphere.
As an ardent admirer, I’m ecstatically sharing that he’s spilled the beans about his visionary plans to us reporters. He’s talking about shaking things up by embracing ‘impact philanthropy’, fostering collaboration, organizing influential gatherings, and empowering people. Essentially, it seems like he’s following in his father’s footsteps, continuing the legacy of change over the past five decades!
Critically, she remarks: ‘William’s statement about his aspirations for a compassionate, cooperative monarchy, which also mentioned ‘offering some sympathy’ came across as hollow. In more carefree times, it was the playful Harry (or Harold, as William used to jokingly refer to him) who could poke fun at Prince Charles and bring him back down to earth.’
Known for her often contentious remarks, Brown is the wife of the late, revered newspaper editor, Sir Harold Evans.
Last month, she called the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to quit royal duties in 2020 ‘a disaster’.
Brown commented: ‘Meghan seems to have the poorest judgment out of everyone, as she consistently makes mistakes.’
Prince Harry book sales
It was announced that Penguin Random House, the publishing company for The Duke of Sussex, now expresses remorse over their earlier choice made known in August, when they decided against granting any interviews to promote the paperback release of his controversial memoir, titled “Spare.
In its second week on sale, Harry’s cheaper edition autobiography ranks at number 73 in the UK’s Top 50 official list. It managed to sell only around 3,000 copies, while Richard Osman’s latest novel and Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat: Home To Roost sold approximately 12,000 and nearly 10,000 copies respectively during the same period.
Last year, the hardcover version of “Spare” became a record-breaker at bookstores across Britain, making it the country’s top-selling book, with over 700,000 copies snapped up by readers.
Bridgerton star’s racy Pirelli sna
Now this would certainly have Lady Whistledown’s quill flowing!
Simone Ashley, known for portraying the reserved wife of Viscount Bridgerton in the popular Netflix period series, has taken on a more daring character for her upcoming role as a model in the 2025 Pirelli Calendar.
The black-and-white snap leaves little to the imagination, with just a small piece of cloth wrapped around the 29-year-old’s lower body.
Simone, hailing from Surrey, admits that translating tire manufacturer Pirelli’s concept of ‘refresh and unveil’ into a photograph, captured by American photographer Ethan James Green, was not an easy task for her.
She reflects, ‘It’s wonderful how Ethan embodies the idea of ‘less is more.’ There’s a charm in his understated gestures.’
Elton John’s flamboyant gesture
It was a typically flamboyant gesture from Elton John that wooed his future husband, David Furnish.
In a recent disclosure, the filmmaker shared an anecdote about how, upon being invited by Sir Elton for dinner, he opted to order the entire menu from a pricey Chinese restaurant, since he was unsure of Furnish’s preferences.
Upon reaching home, I find myself face-to-face with four colossal cardboard boxes perched atop the kitchen counter, while the dining table is elegantly set for two. Intrigued, I inquire, “It seems like there are more guests on the way or extra provisions? Who else is joining us, and what’s all this food for?
On the Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast, Furnish recounts: “It came from Mr. Chow’s in Knightsbridge, and Elton wasn’t aware of my preferences – he ended up ordering the entire menu for me. It was my first time at Mr. Chow’s, and I hadn’t experienced upscale Chinese cuisine before. However, it turned out to be an exceptionally tasty meal.
Norway’s royal couple win guru award in LA
It’s also worth noting that Prince Harry and Meghan aren’t the only royals to be honored with accolades following their move to California; they’ve just received a series of questionable ones.
In a ceremony held in Los Angeles, Gurus Magazine presented Princess Martha Louise of Norway and her husband, Durek Verrett, with the Global Inclusivity Award.
Durek, the well-known bisexual shaman and ‘Hollywood’s hottest guru’, expresses his heartfelt appreciation for being acknowledged for our commitment to our community of compassionate individuals. He considers this distinguished recognition a significant privilege,” says Durek at the age of 49.
Bishop of Hereford’s New Zealand nightmare
Troublesome situation for the Bishop of Hereford, Richard Jackson, a favored clergy member of Queen Camilla, who could potentially become the Archbishop of Canterbury in the future.
It’s been mentioned that Jackson is planning a three-month trip to New Zealand starting in January, which could mean he won’t be present when a new archbishop is chosen. Have his plane tickets been purchased yet?
If so, can they be cancelled without it looking too obvious? Let us pray for the poor fellow.
Paul O’Grady’s liquidated firm
Paul O’Grady’s personal production company, Buster Productions, that he previously utilized for managing his income, has been declared bankrupt. The presenter is expected to receive an inheritance of approximately £8.5 million upon the company’s dissolution.
Last year, at the age of 67, O’Grady passed away, having left behind an estate worth approximately £15.5 million in his will. This substantial sum is predicted to be distributed among his surviving spouse, Andre Portasio, daughter Sharon, and sister Sheila.
