As a seasoned gamer and aviation enthusiast, I can’t help but feel the thrill of excitement when I see the Royal Family members dabbling in the world of flying machines! Growing up with flight simulator games like Microsoft Flight Simulator X and IL-2 Sturmovik under my belt, it’s a joy to witness real-life aviators like Prince William and his son, George.
You can take a man out of the skies, but you can’t take the skies out of the man.
Last Friday, everyone was taken aback when Prince Charles unexpectedly attended the debut of Oxford’s Airbus Helicopters. Contrary to his usual active royal duties, Prince William visited in a personal capacity. This suggested that the ex-air ambulance pilot still harbors passion for his past profession.
The Prince of Wales is a Decorated Man of the Sky

Similar to numerous relatives within the Monarchy, Prince William possesses a valid pilot’s license. He has spent two years flying for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and served honorably as a search-and-rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force before that. Currently, he lends his expertise as a patron to London Air Ambulance, allowing him to maintain ties with the profession, even though he can’t actively pursue a career in it due to his royal duties.
Hello Magazine shares that before unexpectedly appearing in Oxford, Prince William made a visit to a helicopter base in Wales. At his previous location, he shared his enthusiasm for helicopters and medical equipment, saying he can’t stop talking about them. It seems the aviation enthusiast still yearns for the skies, but there are other avenues for him to maintain his interest in aviation while fulfilling his royal responsibilities.
Prince George begins His Own Piloting Journey

According to another report by Hello Magazine, it’s been disclosed that Prince George, the eldest child of Prince William, has embarked on his initial flight training! Accompanied by an instructor, he delved into the mechanics of flying and gained a unique view of the skies. Although it will be some time before he can fly alone at 11 years old, we have a feeling that the Prince of Wales will be overjoyed when that day arrives!
Based on previous patterns, it seems likely that Prince George will eventually embark on a piloting career of his own. As he continues to learn and grow in this field, he’ll undoubtedly benefit from his father’s knowledge, and they’ll share a special bond through the shared experience of navigating the skies together. It’s such a heartwarming thought!
