Prime Video has given fans a first glimpse of its upcoming Blade Runner series, which is set to launch later this year. The series, titled Blade Runner 2099, was first announced in 2021, and now has an official release date and a new teaser trailer.
Show creators Silka Luisa, Andrew Kosove, and Broderick Johnson announced at San Diego Comic-Con that the series will premiere on Tuesday, November 25th, according to Radio Times.
All eight episodes will be released simultaneously on the platform in over 240 countries and territories, allowing fans to watch the whole series back-to-back.
Ridley Scott is an executive producer on Blade Runner 2099, which continues the story of the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049. Set fifty years later, the new series explores a future that has spiraled beyond our control.
The first look at the new series reveals Cora (Hunter Schafer), a woman on the run who unexpectedly finds herself working as a Blade Runner – an officer tasked with tracking down and retiring Replicants.

Cora says, “These replicants just keep stripping everything away from us.” She wonders aloud how long it will be before they’re left with absolutely nothing – before they become nothing.
Next, we meet Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a Blade Runner who is also a Replicant nearing the end of her life. She’s tasked with tracking down a powerful runaway, and she ends up reluctantly working with someone else to find rogue androids and prevent the city’s destruction.
Olwen points out that those clinging to the past are constantly trying to regain lost ground and reclaim what they’ve had before. However, she implies this creates tension in their alliance, stating, ‘It’s our time now,’ suggesting a struggle for dominance or control.
Michelle Yeoh and Todd Schafer are joined by rising stars Dimitri Abold, from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Lewis Gribben of Somewhere Boy. The cast is completed by Daniel Rigby, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, and Tom Burke.
Blade Runner 2099 arrives on Prime Video on 25 November.
