The Wheel of Time struggled to adapt its enormous scope. With 15 books in the series, it was hard to decide what to include. In contrast, Vox Machina stayed true to its strengths. By focusing on its characters, atmosphere, and exciting action, it created a streamlined show that accomplished a lot without feeling cluttered.

Bringing fantasy stories to life in live-action TV is often a big challenge, as seen with The Wheel of Time. Other fantasy shows suggest that animation might be a better fit for the genre, especially when complex worlds and rules are involved.
