Lola Tung, known for her role in The Summer I Turned Pretty, recently revealed some news about a potential movie adaptation of the show. The series finished its third season last September, and viewers have been hoping for a continuation of the story.
Prime Video announced they were making a movie to continue the story of Belly, picking up where the series ended.
In a recent interview with Variety, Jenna Ortega, who plays Belly, revealed that Jenny Han, the creator of the show and author of the original books, is already brainstorming ideas for a potential movie.

“I’ve talked to Jenny a lot about ideas,” Tung shared. “I’m excited to read the script.”
I read in Variety that there was some kind of plan for the show being passed around, and the actress jokingly said that nobody had actually sent it to her yet!

Tung also discussed her thoughts on how the story will unfold for Belly and her romantic partner, Conrad Fisher, played by Christopher Brine.
Tung described the couple as deeply in love, picturing Belly enjoying life in Paris while Conrad focuses on his medical career. She noted they are currently in a long-distance relationship.

When asked about the debate between fans who support either Conrad or Jeremiah for Belly, Tung shared that she personally leans towards one brother after reading the books. However, she’s letting author Jenny Han decide how the story ultimately ends.
“It doesn’t matter what I think,” Tung added. “It’s all about you and your experience.”
When the movie adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty was first announced, author Jenny Han hinted at what fans could expect for the character Belly.
The writer felt the next part of Belly’s story deserved a full cinematic treatment, believing it was too significant to be handled any other way.
I’m really thankful to Prime Video for believing in my creative direction and allowing me to share the conclusion of this story with everyone who’s been following it.
