Prime Video will soon be taking down the 2013 drama Mr Morgan’s Last Love, featuring Michael Caine and Gillian Anderson. As of today, Wednesday, July 22nd, you have about 10 days left to watch it with your Amazon subscription.
This quietly beautiful film, directed by Sandra Nettelbeck with music by Hans Zimmer, tells the story of a widowed professor who has retired and moved to Paris, despite not knowing any French.
He becomes friends with a much younger woman – a French dance teacher – and his adult kids disapprove of the relationship.
I’m really excited about the cast! Along with Michael Caine and Wes Anderson, they’ve got Clémence Poésy, who I loved in In Bruges and 127 Hours, Justin Kirk from Weeds, and the amazing Jane Alexander, who you might remember from All the President’s Men. It’s such a great group of actors!
Although the movie features a talented cast, critics generally liked Mr. Morgan’s Last Love more than audiences did.

The film, known as Last Love in some countries, has received a respectable average rating of 6.7 out of 10 on IMDb. One viewer gave it a 7/10 and described it as a touching movie with good intentions, saying they enjoyed parts of it but weren’t completely captivated by the end.
