If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, consider Quartet on Prime Video – it won’t be available for much longer. This British drama, released in 2012, tells the story of a retirement home where talented musicians and opera singers spend their later years at Beecham House.
Dustin Hoffman made his directorial debut with Quartet, a film based on Ronald Harwood’s popular West End play. The movie boasts a stellar cast featuring Maggie Smith, Sheridan Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, and Pauline Collins.
Paste Magazine highly recommended Quartet, calling it a beautifully crafted film comparable to the operas featured within it, and predicting audiences would want to see it again immediately.
What to Read Next
You only have about a week left to watch Quartet on Prime Video, as it will be removed on Friday, January 30th. If you’re reading this on the weekend, that means it’s leaving soon!
If you don’t catch it before it leaves Prime Video, or if you don’t have a Prime Video subscription, you can still watch the movie on Sky Cinema and NOW (with a Cinema membership). It’s currently unclear when it will be removed from those platforms.

When Quartet came out, Digital Spy called it a warm and comforting movie, highlighting especially strong acting from Maggie Smith and Billy Connolly. They noted Smith perfectly used her signature sharp look as Jean, and Connolly’s portrayal of Wilf was also exceptional.
Sheridan Smith described the film set as “really spontaneous and magical,” telling Digital Spy that the cast often improvised and had fun when they weren’t filming. She said it was especially exciting to work alongside such talented actors.
Honestly, being on set felt amazing – so much of the movie is actually just real moments and genuine laughter. Everything felt super spontaneous and magical, and the director really managed to capture that feeling in the final cut. It’s awesome!
The film Quartet will no longer be available on Prime Video after January 30th. You can still watch it on Sky Cinema and NOW if you have a Cinema membership.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and this edition honors music legend Dolly Parton! You can purchase ‘Dolly at 80’ at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
