Prey star Amber Midthunder signs on for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in various universes, I’ve grown to appreciate the intricate narratives and compelling characters that these worlds offer. With the addition of Amber Midthunder to the cast of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, it seems that Apple TV+ is taking things to a whole new level.

For the eagerly awaited season 2 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”, we’ve got a fresh cast member joining us – it’s Amber Midthunder, a name familiar to many due to her leading role as Naru in the sci-fi movie “Prey”.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to announce that, as per Variety, I’ve been added to the Season 2 cast of the Apple TV+ series! My character is named Isabel, an intriguing and influential businesswoman who will have a substantial presence throughout the upcoming season. At this point, details about my role are scarce, but as more information surfaces, I’ll make sure to keep you all updated!

The hit monster series, titled “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters“, was developed by Chris Black and Matt Fraction. This series falls under the umbrella of the Monsterverse franchise, produced by Legendary Television. The Monsterverse is a shared universe encompassing films such as the 2014 Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and an upcoming film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024). At present, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is the only live-action TV show within the franchise, alongside the Netflix animated series Skull Island.

Here’s what Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 1 is about via Variety:

Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

In the premiere season of a popular monster-themed show, Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, John Goodman, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski took on leading roles.

The initial season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” debuted on Apple TV+ in November 2023, earning positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Thanks to its strong performance, Apple decided to continue the popular show for a second round in April 2024. Additionally, Apple struck a deal with Legendary Entertainment to create several spinoff series based on the show. Unfortunately, specific details about season 2 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” and its spinoffs are still scarce at this time. The most recent news regarding the second season is Dichen Midthunder’s casting announcement.

Midthunder has gained significant recognition for her part in the movie “Prey”, but she’s no stranger to other roles too. For instance, she had a recurring role in the superhero series “Legion” and the sci-fi show “Roswell, New Mexico”. You may have seen her on TV shows such as “Banshee”, “Longmire”, and “Reservation Dogs” as well.

In her latest ventures, she has portrayed Princess Yue in the live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and Dezbah Weaver in the sports drama film titled “Rez Ball”. Upcoming projects include the action thriller “Novocaine” and the chilling horror movie called “Opus”, apart from season 2 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”.
