Pretty Little Liars vet Shay Mitchell, 38, makes her Baywatch debut as she sizzles in a red swimsuit

Pretty Little Liars veteran Shay Mitchell has a new gig as she heads back to the small screen.

A stunning 38-year-old woman with brown hair was spotted on a Los Angeles beach this week, wearing a red swimsuit.

A familiar face in Hollywood will be playing Trina, a lawyer who gave up a successful career at a prestigious firm to become a full-time lifeguard.

A Canadian actor was filming the first episode of the new Baywatch series, which features a return appearance by original cast member David Chokachi.

Brooks Nader, Hassie Harrison, and Livvy Dunne are also part of the show’s cast. It’s scheduled to premiere on Fox during the 2026-2027 television season.

Shay Mitchell became well-known for playing Emily Fields on the TV show Pretty Little Liars, which ran from 2010 to 2017.

The actress received critical acclaim for her roles as Peach Salinger in the thriller series You (2018) and as Stella Cole in the Hulu comedy Dollface (2019–2022).

More recently, she lent her voice to the character Alexandra Trese in the Netflix animated show Trese (2021) and also served as an executive producer on the crime drama The Cleaning Lady (2022–2025).

Mitchell made her feature film debut in the musical drama film Dreamland (2016).

She starred in several films, including the comedies Mother’s Day (2016) and Something from Tiffany’s (2022), as well as the horror movie The Possession of Hannah Grace (2018).

Deadline first broke the news in 2023 that Fremantle was developing a new version of Baywatch. 

The popular TV show from the 1990s featured a cast including Pamela Anderson, David Hasselhoff, Alexandra Paul, David Charvet, Yasmine Bleeth, and Nicole Eggert.

The show also gave a boost to the careers of up-and-coming actresses such as Brande Roderick, Krista Allen, Gena Lee Nolin, and Brooke Burns.

Baywatch veteran David Chokachi, 58, will reprise his original role of Cody Madison. 

Cody owns and runs The Shoreline, a popular bar and grill known for its Baywatch theme, and he still occasionally works as a lifeguard, even wearing the iconic red shorts.

Yellowstone cutie Harrison will play Nat, a former foster kid turned Olympic athlete.

She’s a top lifeguard and works closely with Hobie as his closest friend and reliable assistant.

Harrison is married to her Yellowstone colleague, Ryan Bingham, who is a successful singer as well.

The new Baywatch series centers around Hobie Buchannon, the beloved character from the original show, who has grown up to become a Baywatch captain, just like his famous father, Mitch.

That makes it sound like at one point Hasselhoff could make a cameo on the new show. 

Hobie’s life changes completely when Charlie, his long-lost daughter, unexpectedly appears, wanting to follow in the family tradition and become a Baywatch lifeguard just like him.

Former teen idol Cody Madison now owns and operates The Shoreline, a popular bar and grill known for its Baywatch theme, and he still occasionally works as a lifeguard in the classic red swim trunks.

He’s more than just a colleague to his fellow lifeguards—he’s a mentor, a friend, and a supportive presence, like a second home. Plus, he always celebrates a successful rescue with a treat of free wings!

Nader got her start as a bikini model who posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

She first gained recognition in 2019 by winning the magazine’s open casting call for its Swim Search. She then appeared in the magazine’s swimsuit issue for three consecutive years – 2020, 2021, and 2022 – before landing the cover in 2023.

Nader has also acted in the 2018 film Backtrace. 

Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she also appeared on the reality TV show Dancing With The Stars, where she briefly dated professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.

She recently appeared in a show with her sisters. Last year, she was rumored to be dating Tom Brady.
