As a long-time fan of gripping legal dramas and suspenseful storytelling, I was thrilled when Apple TV+ announced that “Presumed Innocent” would be getting a second season. Having devoured the first limited series and the original novel by Scott Turow, I couldn’t help but wonder what direction the show would take next.
At the finish line of “Presumed Innocent” Season 1 on Apple TV+, they announced that there will indeed be a second season. In other words, what started as a limited series has now evolved into an ongoing drama series.
It was a common assumption among fans that the second season would be based on the events of the second novel prior to its conclusion. An alternative approach would be for the creators to draw from the second part of their source material instead.
As someone who has been an avid fan of legal dramas for years, I can confidently say that the Season 1 finale of “Presumed Innocent” took me by surprise. The way the storyline concluded was not at all what I had anticipated, and it’s clear that things are about to take a drastically different turn in future episodes.
What could Presumed Innocent Season 2 follow instead?
In the initial storyline (both in the novel and the film), it’s revealed that Barbara was the one responsible for Carolyn’s death. After discovering her husband’s infidelity, she acted out of vengeance and committed the crime. She managed to escape consequences as well. Ultimately, Rusty chose not to pursue his wife since their son required her presence at home.
In the finale of the first season, it was shockingly uncovered that Rusty believed his wife was the culprit for the crimes, but in fact, it was their daughter who had been hiding the truth. Although hints had been dropped throughout, we failed to recognize them until the very end. To add fuel to the fire, Kyle, Rusty’s son, was present at the house before Carolyn met her untimely demise.
It’s a possibility that Jaden may stand trial for murder in the upcoming second season. Could there be any actions taken by Kyle that make him a suspect? Or perhaps someone from Carolyn’s past will emerge, as was the case with “Big Little Lies,” providing new storylines after the original source material had been adapted.
This is all unlikely. The second season is set to feature new characters and a new murder mystery.
What is the storyline of Presumed Innocent Book 2?
“Why does the series deviate from the murderer’s portrayal in the book?” A possible explanation is: “One reason is that the identity of the killer has been altered.”
Another explanation is: In contrast, there are additional reasons why I had my doubts about Season 2 of “Presumed Innocent” aligning with the second book. Since the second book takes place years later, it’s plausible that Rusty’s wife, Barbara, has passed away. However, he finds himself under suspicion for her murder once more.
As a passionate gamer and avid fan of binge-worthy shows, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news. According to Screen Rant, Season 2 of “Presumed Innocent” is set to introduce new characters and a fresh murder case. This shift towards an anthology format truly resonates with me, as I’ve always enjoyed the unpredictability and intrigue that comes with each new storyline. Bring it on!
