Pregnant Sophie Habboo reveals why she won’t let anyone kiss her baby after birth as she prepares to welcome first child with husband Jamie Laing

Sophie Habboo has explained her decision not to allow anyone to kiss her baby, as she gets ready to become a mother for the first time.

Sophie Habboo, 30, who starred in Made In Chelsea and is expecting her first baby with husband Jamie Laing, 36, admitted she’s losing sleep over the idea of strangers kissing her newborn.

On their podcast, Sophie stated very firmly that she doesn’t want anyone kissing her baby. She made it clear that if someone kisses her newborn, she will physically confront them.

Jamie laughed as Sophie added: ‘Please do not come near my baby and risk giving my baby germs.

She pointed at Jamie and went on, ‘You were going to tell me, “No, but that woman said we should boost their immune systems with kisses, even from strangers,” and it’s been keeping me up at night.’

Jamie chuckled and responded, “No way am I going to do that. Someone told me you have to let kids get dirty, so I jokingly said we should just take them outside and cover them in mud!”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! Sophie was trying not to laugh while telling the cameras exactly what he’d said – that we should just put the baby in the mud and *not* wash it off! I mean, obviously not when the baby is brand new, and she said that, but the whole idea was just…wow.

Laughing, Jamie added: ‘That’s what I thought!’

Sophie and her husband, Jamie, shared the happy news in June that they are expecting their first child.

The loved-up couple tied the knot in a lavish Spanish wedding in 2023.

Jamie recently joked that home renovations almost caused a split with his wife, Sophie, while showing off a video of their beautifully remodeled London house.

Jamie has been sharing clips of the abode as he and Sophie prepare to welcome their baby.

Jamie shared a video on Instagram jokingly questioning the idea that renovating their home would improve his relationship with Sophie.

The video then shows Jamie celebrating with a dance in their newly renovated bathroom, accompanied by text saying, ‘We didn’t get divorced!’

Jamie’s new house has a beautiful white bathroom attached to the bedroom. It includes classic tiled floors and a large walk-in shower.

The video then pans into one of the home’s five bedrooms, showcasing its dark wood furniture and calming, neutral colors.

Last month, Jamie shared photos on social media of his and Sophie’s new home in the fashionable Notting Hill area of west London. They bought the property last year for £4.1 million.

He gave his 1.6 million followers a tour of the ground floor, highlighting his large, open-plan kitchen designed in a Mediterranean style. The centerpiece was a spacious island with a marble countertop.

The modern kitchen is bright and airy, filled with light from four skylights. It opens onto a terraced garden on one side and flows into a comfortable living area decorated with personal touches like family photos and ornaments. The room feels fresh and inviting, with walls painted a soft lime wash.

Before Jamie and Sophie finally got to move into the house they’d always wanted, it looked quite a bit different than they imagined. It was a five-bedroom house, but it needed a lot of work.

Last year’s marketing photos showed the house looked dated and a bit messy. The kitchen was entirely white but featured a smaller island and a standard cooker, unlike the modern range cooker it has now.

The living room featured a rectangular marble table with wooden chairs around it. Two comfortable armchairs were positioned opposite a set of wooden doors leading to a small terrace, which looked out over a long, slightly wild garden.

The house originally felt like a typical suburban family home, but a 14-month renovation led by designer Jojo Barr of House Nine transformed it into a stylish, modern townhouse.

Jamie built his fortune through various business projects, most notably by co-founding the candy company Candy Kittens in 2012.

His family history includes Alexander Grant, who played a key role in creating Digestives and started the famous McVitie’s company.

Jamie has appeared on several popular TV shows, including Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Gogglebox, and The Great British Bake Off.

He hosts the popular podcast NearlyParents alongside his wife, Sophie. The show has attracted major sponsors, including the cosmetics company Max Factor.

The couple’s new neighbors said they seemed to be adjusting happily to life in Notting Hill and were enjoying the neighborhood.

Oh my gosh, I actually *saw* him running the other day! It was incredible. Everyone keeps saying he and his family have a beautiful house, but honestly, so do a lot of people around here. It’s like, yeah, it’s nice, but nobody really *cares* because this whole area is full of celebrities, you know? It’s frustrating, he deserves so much more attention!

Honestly, the construction noise went on *forever*, but you get used to it around here. It’s not surprising, really – this area is full of wealthy people, and someone *always* seems to be renovating or building something new. It’s just… part of the landscape, you know? I barely even notice it anymore, I’m so used to it… it’s just *life* around here.

Currently, there are three large construction projects happening on Jamie and Sophie’s street. The work is always managed carefully to minimize disruption for local residents. It’s important to be considerate of neighbors in this community.

I was so thrilled to see Jamie share the news of his new home on Instagram! He captioned it ‘Just in time,’ and then shared that he and his wife, Sophie, recently purchased their first house and immediately jumped into renovations. It’s such an exciting milestone, and I always say, a home is truly made, not just bought – all those personal touches are what make it special. Seeing them embark on this journey is inspiring!

’14 months, 10,000 arguments and nearly divorced later, we’ve finally finished.’
