On Monday, Laura Adlington posted a beautiful collection of images on Instagram, standing up against those who unkindly labeled her as ‘overweight’ with the intention of causing pain.
36-year-old celebrity from The Great British Bake Off, glowing with pregnancy and alongside her husband Matt, radiated beauty while wearing a white flowery swimsuit. She shared a potent message with her audience.
Accompanying the beautiful images, the body positivity champion of size 26 penned: ‘It’s amazing how swiftly individuals resort to using the term ‘overweight’ when they aim to cause harm – as if being overweight is the most abhorrent thing a person can be.’
She added: ‘If that’s the worst thing you can say about me, maybe I’m doing ok.
In my personal viewpoint, I’d choose to be overweight over being unkind. I’d prefer to carry extra pounds rather than be deceitful. I’d rather live with a bit more flesh on my bones than harbor judgmental thoughts. And above all, I’d pick being overweight over someone who feels it’s their place to scrutinize another person’s body – that’s simply none of their business.
The Instagram post follows Laura’s recent action of posing in her lingerie earlier this month, where she expressed a heartfelt message promoting body acceptance.

The baker frequently promotes self-love and urges her audience to accept and appreciate their bodies.
Posting on my Instagram, I snapped a mirror selfie, striking a pose in black lingerie, captioning it, “Not a ‘before’ photo…” as I proudly flaunt my transformation journey!
Recently, she shared with her audience, “My timeline has been filled with ‘before and after’ images, many featuring bodies similar to mine or even smaller.
‘And I get it – people are allowed to change. To feel proud of themselves.
‘But I wish more people would think about how they speak about their “old” selves.
Since many of us continue to inhabit these physical forms. We are, essentially, still this body. It’s painful to constantly confront the reality that what you consider a terrible body type is our lived experience.” This version maintains the original meaning and uses simpler language, making it more accessible for readers.
The intention behind the body positivity movement is to create a welcoming environment for individuals with underrepresented or disparaged physical forms, those often overlooked or derided by society.
It seems as though that area is contracting once more, and it’s those who have always been included who dominate the conversation now.

‘I’m getting really tired of the fatphobia disguised as wellness.
* The callous nature of progress as depicted in those captions. Feeling as if merely living in my body requires constant defense.
‘In fact, this isn’t a change-over picture… Instead, it serves as a message emphasizing that this very body, exactly as it is today, is more than sufficient. And your body too, is just perfect as it is.’
Last month, Laura wrote a heartfelt letter to her unborn child, leaving her followers emotionally touched when they read it.
After overcoming a nine-year struggle with infertility, the star reached the midpoint of her pregnancy.
In June, Laura made it official that she’s having a son. She had previously hinted at their pregnancy by revealing they had tried In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in a discreet manner.
In the photo, Laura held her growing belly tenderly in a charming white-and-blue sundress, as she penned a heartfelt note to her unborn child, which she then posted.
She began her post: ‘Dear baby, We’re over halfway. Can you believe it?

On certain days, it seems almost surreal, and truth be told, I often feel as though I’m dwelling within a waking dream. It’s hard for me to accept that this is truly mine.
Since the moment I learned about you, I’ve been finding myself awake around 4am. In the quiet of the night, I let my mind drift, picturing the moment when I can finally embrace you.
I’m curious about the unique individual you’ll become, the distinctive sound of your laughter, and the charming idiosyncrasies that will define you as yourself.
After a very lengthy and painful trip, we’ve reached this point, one marked by many hardships. Admittedly, there’s always an underlying fear that something might go wrong again, but now, we’re allowing ourselves to imagine our future with renewed vigor.
I’ve been keeping myself occupied by creating lists of items that you might require. I am eagerly looking forward to receiving your pram so that we can start setting up your nursery – small but significant moves as we count down the days until you arrive home.
With a strong emotional undertone, she exclaimed: “Above all else, what I’m longing for is the moment when we meet. When I can embrace you, gaze into your eyes, and at last say, ‘You’re here. Together, we achieved it.’
