Oh my gosh, I’m so thrilled for Ellie! She just announced she’s been made an MBE – a Member of the Order of the British Empire! – and honestly, it’s SO deserved. It’s for all her amazing work with biodiversity and fighting climate change, and I’m just bursting with pride. She’s always been so passionate about those issues, and it’s incredible to see her get recognized for it. I’m seriously beaming right now!
The 39-year-old singer is a UN environmental advocate and was honored in the New Year’s Honours list.
Ellie posted several photos on Instagram Wednesday showing her involvement in activism, like speaking at the UN and meeting Kamala Harris, who previously ran for Vice President.
She shared the news with a post saying she was incredibly honored to receive an MBE for her work in biodiversity and climate action. She also noted that she’s been supported and inspired by women in the field from the very beginning.
‘Last year we really saw and felt how much the climate and nature crisis is intensifying.
We’re still moving forward thanks to the amazing women who are leading the way – including scientists, activists, lawyers, communicators, teachers, farmers, mothers, aunts, Indigenous leaders, and young people.

Honestly, seeing all this incredible talent just blows me away! They’re so bold and unstoppable, always pushing boundaries. It feels like I’m standing on the shoulders of legends, and I couldn’t be prouder to witness it all. It’s just… amazing!
I’m so grateful for all the wonderful messages and congratulations I’ve received over the past week. With love, Dr. Ellie Goulding MBE.
In 2013, she participated in the Chime For Change concert, a worldwide campaign created by Beyoncé, actress Salma Hayek-Pinault, and fashion designer Frida Giannini. The concert aimed to highlight important issues affecting women, such as access to education, healthcare, and legal justice.
She supports The Marylebone Project, an organization that helps women experiencing homelessness, and works as an ambassador for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
In 2017, she became a goodwill ambassador for the UN Environment Programme, and she continues to work as a global advocate for environmental issues today.
In September 2018, she urged the fashion industry to prioritize sustainability when she accepted the Eco Award at the Fashion 4 Development First Ladies Luncheon. A month later, she spoke to 85 world leaders at a conference in London focused on combating the illegal wildlife trade.
In 2019, she participated in the One Young World Summit, where emerging leaders and activists discussed important global issues like climate change, conflict, and human rights through speeches and panel discussions.
In 2019, she collaborated with renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough on the Our Planet series, contributing the song “In This Together.”

Last year, a unique project officially listed Nature as an artist on popular music streaming services.
Ellie created a song using natural sounds, and the money earned from the song will be donated to conservation efforts.
The remix of ‘Her Brightest Blue,’ done with the artist Nature, incorporates sounds recorded in Colombian rainforests, like the calls of speckled chachalacas from Caqueta and the songs of Amazonian oropendola birds.
Ellie and her ex-husband, art dealer Caspar Jopling, have a son named Arthur, who was born in 2021.
