Predator: Badlands 2 Seems Likely After New Box Office Update

Initial box office numbers for Predator: Badlands suggest a sequel might be possible, which is encouraging news.

What is the box office for the Predator: Badlands previews?

According to Deadline, “Predator: Badlands” earned $4.8 million from early screenings on Wednesday and Thursday. Experts now predict the film will make between $25 million and $30 million during its opening weekend in the United States.

Based on current estimates, “Predator: Badlands” is expected to have the strongest opening weekend of any film focused solely on the Predator series. The current record holder for the franchise is “Alien vs. Predator,” which earned $38 million when it was released in August 2004. This earlier film combined the Predator and Alien universes.

While a third Predator movie hasn’t been officially confirmed, director Dan Trachtenberg has suggested it’s possible if the latest film, Badlands, is a financial success. Producer Ben Rosenblatt has also hinted that Arnold Schwarzenegger might reprise his iconic role as Dutch in a future installment.

Getting Arnold Schwarzenegger to return to the Predator franchise is a long-held dream for us. He’s been incredibly supportive, and we’d love to see him reprise his role in a series he helped make famous – and that helped make him a star. He’s been fantastic to work with.

Schwarzenegger’s Dutch made a cameo at the end of the animated Predator: Killer of Killers.

In ‘Predator: Badlands,’ director Trachtenberg flipped the script by portraying the Predator as the hero. The story follows a young Predator, exiled from his tribe, who teams up with a woman named Thia and faces a dangerous quest to find a powerful enemy.

Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi stars as the Predator, and Elle Fanning plays Thia, an artificial human created by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

Directed by Dane Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison, Predator: Badlands was produced by Trachtenberg, Matthew Rosenblatt, John Davis, Marc Toberoff, and Brent O’Connor.

Predator: Badlands is now in theaters.
