Prankster left hospitalised after stunt goes horribly wrong at Melbourne Nitro Circus event

A comedic prankster has been left with horrific burns after a stunt went horribly wrong.

Marty Arty and Michael Brookhouse performed at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne this weekend as part of the Nitro Circus show.

This popular comedy duo has over a million YouTube followers and creates videos featuring funny science experiments, daring stunts, and playful pranks on themselves and their friends.

However, they certainly weren’t laughing on Saturday, when a pre-arranged stunt went awry.

The performance, arranged with the Nitro Circus team, featured Michael pretending to be a disruptive streaker while Marty acted as an annoyed security guard.

Marty was to subdue Michael with a flaming whip – a stunt the pair had done before.

The burning whip wrapped around Michael’s neck, and in a disturbing video of the event, onlookers can be heard shouting to remove it.

The incident left Michael with burns around his neck and a weekend stay in hospital.

Marty told 7News that he played the role of a security guard who had to stop Michael from running naked, explaining, ‘Michael was supposed to be the one streaking, and I was the guard chasing him.’

We’d performed that trick before and rehearsed it extensively, but I made a mistake while doing it during the show.

Michael explained that the object got tangled around his neck so tightly he couldn’t immediately remove it.

‘Luckily it’s no surgery needed. It’s just minor.

The comedian, who is based in Brisbane, said he wasn’t seriously hurt in the incident involving The Courier Mail.

“It felt like fire,” Michael explained, “it squeezed so hard I could feel the heat in my hands.”

‘The adrenaline was in there so I didn’t really feel pain until 10 mins later.’

Although the event was surprising, it wasn’t the most serious injury the two had received from a prank lately.

Back in May, Michael was left hospitalised after a bizarre prank involving coffee beans.

In the video, he explained his prank: he eats coffee beans, excretes them, washes them, and then serves them to his friends. He clarified, ‘It’s a prank.’

He then swallows handfuls of whole coffee beans, washing them down with water.

We then see Michael in a hospital bed, clearly in pain, as he recounts what happened during the stunt and how it went wrong.

He said that an X-ray had revealed a large amount of whole coffee beans in his digestive tract.

Michael eventually required surgery to extricate the offending beans.

The prank duo boast more than 10 million followers across their social media accounts.

Their videos have been watched more than 500 million times on YouTube.
