‘Power’ actor Alix Lapri arrested on suspicion of cruelty to children

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m compelled to share some unexpected news about Alix Lapri, an actress who charmed us all as Effie Morales in the captivating series “Power” on Starz. Recently, she was taken into custody in Atlanta, allegedly due to charges of third-degree cruelty towards children and disorderly conduct, according to local records. This surprising turn of events has cast a shadow over her professional life, leaving fans like me hopeful for a positive resolution.

On August 18, the actor, known as Alexus Lapri Geier, was freed from custody. At the time of his arrest on the 17th, specifics about the events leading up to it remained unclear.

As a passionate cinephile myself, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the versatile talent that is Lapri in various roles. At 28, she graced several episodes of “Power” and its spin-off, “Power Book II: Ghost.” Furthermore, her performance in “Den of Thieves” was noteworthy. However, it’s her music career that truly catapulted her into the spotlight.

Following six successful runs on Starz, the series “Power” concludes this Sunday evening with its final episode, leaving behind a complex historical footprint.

In 2012, Alix Lapri put out an EP called “I Am Alix Lapri.” Later, she acted in BET’s comedy series “Reed Between the Lines,” sharing the screen with Tracee Ellis Ross and Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

The state of Georgia considers cruelty to children in the third degree to be a misdemeanor.

A situation arises when an adult knowingly permits a minor (younger than 18 years old) to observe them carrying out a violent crime such as a forcible felony, physical assault, or domestic abuse, as defined by Child Welfare.

As a humble film enthusiast, I reached out to Lapri’s management on Tuesday, eagerly awaiting their response regarding recent speculations in The Times. Regrettably, I haven’t received any feedback from them as of yet. In an attempt to clarify matters further, I also made calls to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, but unfortunately, they have yet to get back to me.
