Porsha Williams Speaks Out as Ex Simon Guobadia Faces ICE Detention Drama

After her estranged spouse, Simon Guobadia, was held by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Porsha Williams finally spoke up about the situation.

A businessperson, aged 60, originally from Nigeria, is currently detained at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, as reported by Us Weekly.

According to the records kept by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, he is currently being held in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In the midst of all that’s unfolding, as a dedicated follower, I find myself reflecting on the challenging situation faced by The Real Housewife of Atlanta, aged 43, who’s currently navigating a complex divorce with Guobadia. On her Instagram, she expressed her feelings, stating that this ordeal is indeed disheartening.

She found it disappointing to witness her separated spouse making decisions that resulted in this situation. For now, her main focus is advancing with her family.

Originally hailing from Nigeria, Guobadia arrived in the U.S. in 1982. In 1985, he was found to have exceeded the validity of his visa and was marked for deportation. Despite this, he reentered the U.S. in 1986, again overstaying the terms of his work visa.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Williams’ representatives for comment. 

This occurs following President Donald Trump’s instruction for widespread expulsions of unauthorized immigrants, an action he authorized earlier this year.

The order allows for the deportation of undocumented immigrants to their countries of origin. 

In 1987, Guobadia admitted to fraud charges and was expelled from the U.S. in 1992 following two additional arrests. However, just one month later, he made his way back into the country.

His 2016 naturalization attempt was denied.

In 2024, the Atlanta Black Star reported that he had been repeatedly denied residency.

Porsha filed for divorce just days later, after just 15 months of marriage.

In November of 2022, the pair exchanged wedding vows following their engagement in May of 2021. However, their divorce proceedings are yet to be finalized.

Last September, Porsha was granted a major legal victory in her ongoing divorce from Simon.

Based on the recent court decision in the case, the reality TV personality was successful in having her ex’s subpoena dismissed (to ‘quash’ means to dismiss or invalidate) and also secured a protective order for her employer, True Entertainment, against being required to provide a videotaped deposition. This is reported by People magazine.

Besides denying Simon’s emergency requests concerning discovery, the judge additionally granted Porsha’s legal team’s costs from the lawsuit to be covered by Simon. This ruling is connected to the aspects of their prenuptial agreement.

Or more concisely: The judge denied Simon’s emergency motions on discovery and ordered him to pay Porsha’s attorney fees due to the connection with their prenup agreement.

According to the records, Simon claims that his wife’s intention to rejoin reality TV or seek regular employment in the future amounts to withholding crucial information and misrepresenting her intentions. This, he believes, makes the Prenuptial Agreement invalid.

Additionally, he stated that during their marriage, Porsha had consented to be a homemaker and give up her professional pursuits, an arrangement the court deemed ineffective.

The court ruled that the husband’s claim lacked validity because it was common knowledge that the wife was already a famous reality TV star during their prenuptial agreement negotiations, and yet, he chose to marry her with this awareness.

In their prenup, they’ve outlined a key intention: to prevent lengthy and costly legal battles, including the possibly invasive disclosure process, should a Separation Event takes place.

In this case, it’s been established by both parties and the judge that the prenuptial agreement under scrutiny was meticulously drafted over a year by skilled lawyers for each party, with full financial disclosures exchanged. This means that potential issues like fraud, mistakes, misrepresentations, and duress, are thoroughly addressed in various sections of the prenuptial agreement.

In simpler terms, what Husband argued should have already been included in the boundaries of the couple’s Prenuptial Agreement, but it wasn’t.

This significant win for Porsha means she’s reached the last stage of the divorce process. Since the court upholds their prenuptial agreement, she’ll be reimbursed for her legal costs by her ex-spouse. Consequently, she’ll conclude this chapter of her life as a single woman.

Previously in February, Porsha finally shared thoughts on the conclusion of her 15-month union with Simon, whom she started seeing in 2021.

After the news about their separation became public, as reported by People on Thursday, the celebrity chose to express gratitude for the encouraging messages and comments she’s received from her fans.

She expressed gratitude for the prayers and backing [with a broken heart symbol] in her post, which was seen by over 7.6 million of her Instagram followers.

In just 7 hours, she accumulated over 109 thousand likes and countless encouraging messages, with some coming from her fellow Real Housewives of Atlanta cast members such as Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, and Cynthia Bailey.

In the grand finale of Season 13, I found myself making a captivating entrance onto the Real Housewives of Atlanta stage, introduced none other than as the devoted spouse of Falynn Pina.

However, the pair went their separate ways after the conclusion of filming.

On May 10, 2021, Porsha announced that she became engaged to Simon, who previously dated one of her Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) colleagues, following only a month of courtship.

‘Yes we are crazy in love,’ she captioned a selfie with Guobadia.
