A well-known pair of radio hosts, who lost their drive-time show on Nova last year, have been prevented from starting a new broadcast.
In September, the radio network announced it wouldn’t be renewing the contracts of Ben Harvey, Liam Stapleton, and Belle Jackson, the hosts of Late Drive with Ben, Liam & Belle.
According to news.com.au, the team’s final broadcast was supposedly on December 12th. However, staff were told in October that they had already departed, and reports now suggest their new job has been postponed.
Their sudden departure followed speculation they had agreed to join a competing network, which proved to be true later that month.
In October, ARN announced that Ben and Liam would be the new hosts of KIIS FM Adelaide’s breakfast show, which was previously on Mix 102.3.
It looks like the new radio hosts might not be able to start on KIIS FM just yet. Reports indicate that Nova is using a clause in their contracts – a ‘non-compete’ agreement – to prevent them from immediately joining a rival station.

Most breakfast show presenters are going back to work this month, but Ben and Liam won’t be able to return until later in the year.
A spokesperson from ARN told the publication the duo will hit the airwaves in April.
According to a spokesperson, Ben and Liam are officially starting on April 1st, and everyone is excited to have them join the new KIIS102.3, which will launch on January 19th.
I’m absolutely dying to know who’s going to keep things going until they get back, but the network is being so secretive! Though, I’ve heard from people in the know that it’ll probably be Bec Morse – she was amazing filling in over the summer, so fingers crossed it’s her! I really think she deserves it, and she’d be perfect!
News of the trio’s Nova sacking emerged in October.
Management sent an email to staff announcing that the last performance would be a celebration to say goodbye.
According to TV Blackbox, Nova programmer Brendan Taylor praised Ben, Liam, and Belle as a highly skilled team. He noted they’ve consistently produced great work for Nova and built a strong rapport with viewers.
They’ve always worked incredibly hard, and I’m so grateful for their dedication to the Nova team.

Ben and Liam kicked off their radio careers in Adelaide on community station Fresh 92.7.
In 2016, they became the new hosts of Triple J’s breakfast show, taking over from Matt Okine and Alex Dyson.
In 2020, they moved back to Adelaide to host the breakfast show on Nova 91.9. Then, in early 2023, they relocated again, this time to Melbourne.
As a huge Nova 100 listener, I was surprised and a little disappointed to find out that Lauren Phillips and Jase Hawkins took over the breakfast slot at the start of 2024. It definitely changed things up!
Media Week reported that the three hosts found out they were being let go just before Lauren and Jase had a private photoshoot at the Nova studio.
