Popular Netflix film spin-off thrown into chaos as cast and crew are hit with illness during overseas shoot
It’s said that a well-liked Netflix series spin-off has allegedly been thrown into disarray, as the actors and production team are believed to have fallen ill due to foodborne illness.
Filming for the spin-off of Sherlock Holmes titled Enola Holmes, featuring Millie Bobby Brown, has been relocated to Malta during its closing stages.
Nevertheless, the team’s activities suddenly stopped when some team members became sick, reportedly due to questionable food, as mentioned by The Sun.
The unexpected setback has delayed the shoot, causing pressure on the team to hit the deadlines.
A source confided to the outlet, “It’s a nightmare as these projects are so tightly scheduled; filming had to be halted.
Quite a number of individuals were impacted, causing operations to temporarily cease until their recovery was underway.

The incident turned out to be food poisoning, quite an unlucky situation. Thankfully, nothing overly severe occurred, and everyone managed to recover; however, it did create a bit of stress regarding meeting deadlines.
In the first quarter of this very year, I was thrilled to learn that I’d once again step into the shoes of Enola Holmes, the clever and spirited younger sibling of the illustrious Sherlock Holmes, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Can’t wait for the adventure!
In the upcoming series, Henry Cavill once again takes on the iconic character of Sherlock, while Himesh Patel continues to portray the beloved Dr. Watson. Additionally, Louis Partridge resumes his role as the romantic lead, Viscount Tewkesbury, in Enola’s storyline.
In the continuation of the story, Helena Bonham Carter reappears as Eudoria Holmes, whereas Sharon Duncan-Brewster carries on her role as the cunning antagonist, Moriarty.
The production process began earlier in the year for the third season, aiming for a late 2025 debut on Netflix.
The specifics of the plot remain secret, but it’s said that this upcoming installment will take on a more somber tone compared to its predecessors.
In the film, the youngest Holmes sibling embarks on a quest to find her vanished mother, despite her well-known brothers’ efforts to halt her probe into the mystery.
Initially, Warner Bros. intended to debut the movie in cinemas. However, due to the persistent COVID-19 outbreak, Netflix secured the rights to show the film in April instead.

In an interview with Deadline, the leading actress Millie shared her excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to work alongside my Enola Holmes crew once more!
I have a soft spot for Enola – she’s bold, courageous, clever, and daring. I can’t wait for viewers to follow along as they witness more of her incredible journey!
Previously, Millie admitted that playing a British character was extremely difficult for her following five years on the American Netflix show Stranger Things.
The actress, who moved from Dorset, England to Florida at the age of eight with her family for her acting career, mentioned that she had to relearn speaking.
In an interview with Radio Times, she shared that for the past five years, she’s portrayed an American character on Stranger Things. Despite being British myself, I encountered significant challenges while playing this role.
‘I had to learn how to speak again because I’m so used to speaking in an American accent.’
