Popular crime drama that stormed Netflix charts shares exciting spin-off plans
Popular series Power has shared plans for its new spin-off show.
The critically acclaimed crime series, airing from 2014 to 2020, has given rise to several spin-offs, such as Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force, with a new addition titled Power: Origins announced around last year.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that my favorite characters, James ‘Gost’ St Patrick and Tommy Egan, will continue their captivating journey! It’s officially confirmed that ‘Origins’, airing on Starz, has received an impressive 18-episode order. Can’t wait to see what unfolds next!

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that Mekai Curtis, who brought Kanan Stark to life so brilliantly in “Raising Kanan,” is set to reprise his role in the upcoming series. The original character was portrayed by 50 Cent, but this time around, we’ll see a younger version of Kanan unfold on screen. I can hardly wait!
In the role of showrunner, executive producer, and writer for “Raising Kanan,” we have Sascha Penn. The original creator of the show, Courtney A Kemp, has taken on the role of an executive producer.
The show is billed as an entertaining and energetic journey through a fresh era within the Power universe, focusing on ambitious youngsters aiming to make a name for themselves and achieve legendary status.
Penn expressed his eagerness to delve deeper into the early histories of the founding figures in the “Power” universe. He’s particularly intrigued by the origins of Ghost and Tommy, which have sparked endless curiosity and debate among fans over the years. He’s excited to provide some answers to lingering questions and unveil unexpected aspects of the narrative that viewers won’t anticipate.
Kathryn Busby, Starz’ president of original programming, stated: “Ever since our audience encountered Ghost and Tommy in ‘Power’, they have been eager to learn about their backstory. With the debut of this new series, we are thrilled to finally give them what they’ve been asking for, in a grand manner.
This signifies a thrilling, fresh phase in the development of this franchise, taking us on a journey exploring the rich history of these renowned characters and the dramatic events that molded their destiny.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to mention that Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora brought their A-game as Ghost and Tommy in the initial series. Interestingly, Sikora continued his role in the subsequent shows titled “Ghost” and “Force.
In its initial release, Power gained significant popularity. More recently, it has been revitalized by returning to Netflix, where it climbed up the charts to secure a spot among the UK’s top ten television programs.
In the UK, the Power series can be streamed through MGM+ on Amazon Prime Video channels. Meanwhile, it airs live on Starz in the United States, while also being available for streaming on Netflix.
