Popular Batman Fancast Confirms He’s Had Talks About Joining the DCU

Alan Ritchson has confirmed he’s had conversations about joining James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.

Alan Ritchson is best known for his role as Reacher in the Amazon Prime Video series of the same name. Before that, he played Aquaman (Arthur Curry) on Smallville and starred as Hawk/Hank Hall in the series Titans. He also appeared as Hawk in other DC shows like Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.

What did Alan Ritchson say about the DCU?

Since James Gunn and Peter Safran began building their DC Universe in late 2024, fans have frequently suggested Joe Keery as a good fit for Batman. Keery recently told ScreenRant he is in talks about joining the DCU, but he’s more interested in playing a flawed or complex character rather than Batman himself.

I’m really excited about the possibility of joining the DCU! I’ve been talking with the folks over there about it, and I’ve made it clear I’m interested in playing a villain – someone a little more complex and messy. I actually described the kind of character I had in mind, and how he’d fit into their universe, and they seemed really into it. Honestly, I think audiences are ready for a character like that – someone who isn’t just the typical hero.

It’s currently unknown what character Ritchson is being considered for or which DC Universe project he might join. While Clayface, Lanterns, or Supergirl aren’t out of the question, it seems unlikely, especially since those projects are already far along in production and scheduled for release next year – keeping a casting secret would be very difficult with how often set photos leak.

After that, it’s unclear what will happen. Currently, neither James Gunn, DC Studios, nor Warner Bros. has confirmed that Alan Ritchson will appear in the DC Universe.
