As a lifestyle expert, I admire Laura Henshaw’s resilience and determination. Her nut allergy incident before the New York Marathon was a close call, but her dedication to her goals is truly inspiring. It’s a testament to her strength and willpower that she was able to push through and complete the race.
As a die-hard fan, I’m devastated to share that my beloved Aussie fitness icon has experienced a health setback prior to striding the New York City Marathon.
31-year-old Laura Henshaw nearly had to be taken to the hospital due to an unintentional consumption of a yogurt that included cashews.
As someone who’s allergic to nuts, I was sharing my experience with these prebiotic yogurt beverages I’ve been consuming. They have a lot of carbs, I should add.
Took a taste, my heart skipped a beat, double-checking for any signs of nuts or residue, not willing to jeopardize my marathon. Peered closely and found it was laced with cashews. Darted towards the nearest restroom and discarded it immediately.
Despite just having a single sip, Laura became increasingly unwell later on, causing her concern that she might be too ill to participate in the upcoming marathon.
She shared that she came very close to needing a hospital visit and nearly missed the race start. After swallowing a large amount, some of it got stuck in her throat, causing her to feel extremely sick. Later on, she began vomiting as a result.
Lucky for me, Laura got an additional hour’s slumber thanks to daylight saving time, which made all the difference in the world. Waking up refreshed, she powered through and aced that grueling run at the legendary race.
I successfully completed the marathon! Initially, during the night, I doubted whether I could do it, but thankfully I made it to the starting point.” She continued by expressing her gratitude.

Laura married husband Dalton in November 2021 and he took her surname.
She is the co-founder of wellness brand Keep It Cleaner alongside model Steph Claire Smith.
Laura and Steph initially crossed paths during the late 2010s, having both been models at the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week shortly following their high school graduations.

They quickly formed a strong bond while working on numerous shared productions, often using their off-stage hours to deepen their friendship by learning more about one another behind the scenes.
2015 marked the start of their reputation as a formidable duo in the health and wellness sector, as they established the brand Keep It Cleaner. This venture led to the creation of an app, merchandise, a book, and the popular KICPOD podcast.
For nine years, Laura assumed the position of CEO, whereas Steph occupied the COO seat. During this time, they jointly steered the company to extraordinary heights and remarkable success with their brand.
