Pope Francis Dies at 88

Actress Lesley Joseph, best known from “Birds of a Feather,” cherishes a special moment she shared with the late Pope Francis during their one meeting.

The actress met the late Pontiff when taking part in 2019 BBC series Pilgrimage: The Road To Rome.

During the filming, Lesley was fortunate enough to meet with the Pope. Remarkably, he commented to her, “You certainly don’t seem 72 years old.

After exchanging a warm goodbye hug and playful cheek kiss with the Pope during our meeting, I couldn’t help but share this delightful moment: He chuckled and remarked, “You certainly don’t seem 72!” as a testament to my youthful appearance.

In that moment, I touched his arm and exclaimed, “Why, God bless you!” Everyone burst into laughter. “You’ve actually just blessed the Pope? I can hardly believe it!

Notable figures have offered heartfelt acknowledgments for Pope Francis, following the Vatican’s announcement of his passing on Easter Monday at the age of 88.

Known for devoting his entire existence to serving both God and the Church, the pontiff was fondly recalled on various social media platforms by a diverse range of celebrities, irrespective of their age or religious beliefs.

Among them was Whoopi Goldberg, 69, who recalled a past meeting Pope Francis.

As I share this heartwarming photo, let me express how profoundly this individual reminded me of the all-encompassing love of Christ, a love that transcends faith or lack thereof.

He seemed to embody Pope John XXIII, who brought faith to life. Keep sailing, Pope Francis, with your compassion for humankind and your laughter.

Antonio Banderas, who identified as agnostic in 2006 but expressed a deep connection to Catholic spirituality, shared insights about his interactions with the Pope.

The renowned Spanish actor, aged 64, posted a photo from his encounter with Pope Francis in 2016 and commented: ‘Pope Francis has passed away – a man who, as leader of the Catholic Church, demonstrated compassion, love, and mercy towards the most vulnerable. @franciscus #RestInPeace #Goodbye’

As a devoted admirer, I echo the sentiments: May you find eternal peace, His Holiness Pope Francis. Gratitude abounds for your unwavering support and advocacy on behalf of those often overlooked in our society.

‘Your compassion, kindness and humility will always be remembered.’

Reverend Richard Coles promptly acknowledged Pope Francis by posting an old photograph on social media.

In a heartfelt message on Twitter, the Reverend from Britain prayed: ‘We entrust you, compassionate Savior, with our servant Jorge, one of your sheep, one of your flock, a sinner whom you have come to save.’

Grant him eternal tranquility, a peaceful abode forevermore, and the radiant fellowship of the saints in ethereal splendor. So be it. #PopeFrancis.

Livia Firth wrote: “Regardless of his faith, he was an immense figure – a champion for love, justice, and peace. Despite his status and the limitations it brought, he always made an effort.

I deeply admired his compassionate nature and some of the pieces he created, particularly the ‘Laudato Si’, a touching reflection on caring for our shared environment.

‘Your voice will be missed in the world Jorge Mario Bergoglio.’

Greetings, fellow enthusiasts!

I woke up this morning with a heavy heart, for I have learned of the passing of His Holiness the Pope. It’s a loss that resonates deeply within me as a devoted fan. May his soul rest in peace and may his legacy continue to inspire us all.

Though I’m not deeply spiritual, I chose to get married within the walls of a Catholic church. Farewell and may peace be with you #rip #morning #Monday.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I find myself reflecting on the recent passing of Pope Francis, who unfortunately left us just weeks after receiving a visit from King Charles and Queen Camilla during their tour of Italy. In his own words, King Charles shared that this meeting left them deeply touched, expressing that they felt incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to pay him a visit.

Over the past few months, the Pope has been dealing with some health issues, such as recovering from pneumonia that required hospitalization.

On April 9, there was a private meeting between him and the duo, as he had sufficiently recuperated. Additionally, during the Easter holiday, he made appearances at various public functions, and more recently, he interacted with the U.S. Vice President, JD Vance.
