The Poltergeist house from the 1982 horror movie is now being rented out to the public.
Rachel Powers, a homeowner, spent approximately $165,000 to replicate the set of an iconic ’80s series, and now she’s renting out her place on platforms like Airbnb, VRBO, and Futurestay.
Speaking with the Daily Mail, Powers mentioned that he quietly inquired about the property in Simi Valley, California, to gauge reactions before making a public announcement, hoping to receive some insight or response.
Following her acquisition of the property in October 2024, the house made an appearance on the two-hour debut episode of Ghost Adventures during season 29 in April 2025.
In that particular episode, Powers mentioned they employed a mix of gadgets such as an ITC (Instrumental Trans Communication device), a spirit box, digital voice recorders, Polaroid cameras, Ovilus, regular cameras, night vision equipment, thermal imaging technology, motion detectors, EMF meters, and even Heather O’Rourke’s Cabbage Patch doll as a trigger object.
In Heather’s account, they managed to establish contact with the deceased. This was evident in various occurrences such as detecting electronic signals, a toy moving on its own (Heather’s doll), chilly spots, intermittent light fluctuations, problematic locks, and unusual activities around the old television set (as noted by paranormal investigator Zak Baggans).

The new owner remarked, ‘The event linked the filming of the movie, the cast, the land’s past, and the home itself, primarily delving into the alleged haunting by the Poltergeist curse.’
According to TMZ, Powers ended up spending an extra $100,000 on top of the asking price, totalling approximately $1.28 million for the property he purchased.
The house was on the market just two months before its new owner scooped it up.
In 1982, the chilling supernatural horror movie, co-created by director Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper (famous for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), ranked as the eight highest-earning film of that year.
In the movie, it’s disclosed that the peaceful suburban house is actually located above a graveyard. Troubling spectral entities, identified as demons, start tormenting the Freeling family with the intention of making them leave.
JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Oliver Robins, the late Heather O’Rourke, and Dominique Dunne were the main cast members of the timeless horror movie.
In the realm of residential living spaces, I’ve come across an extraordinary 16,000-square foot abode nestled just north of the captivating towns of Thousand Oaks and Malibu. This stunning property boasts four inviting bedrooms and a generous 2.5 bathrooms, providing ample space for comfort and style.
A large swimming pool is located in the spacious backyard, as well as a circular jacuzzi nearby.

As I stand before my beloved abode, my heart swells with pride. A grand three-car garage graces the front, cradling my cherished vehicles. Lush greenery blankets the landscape, a lively lawn underfoot, and several majestic trees tower overhead, their leaves whispering secrets to one another. A sturdy brick pathway guides me towards the inviting wooden door, the symbol of my sanctuary, my home.
According to Equity Union Real Estate’s listing from August, the residence boasts a carefully planned layout that is ideal for social gatherings, unwinding, and living life to the fullest.
Despite being linked to a movie franchise, the house appears well-maintained with a positive vibe or good aura about it.
The spacious two-story house boasts a generously sized living area with numerous big windows, letting in plenty of sunlight, thus making it feel cozy and welcoming.
The listing mentioned it also features a dining room adjoining a kitchen, which cinema enthusiasts would appreciate remains true to its original design yet boasts modern appliances.
The property description mentions a versatile family room with a fireplace and potential for an office area. It’s also noted that this space could be transformed into a downstairs bedroom if desired.
