Police Academy star Steve Guttenberg helps firefighters in moving cars amid fast-moving wildfires in Pacific Palisades
40 years following the release of the Police Academy movie, its star Steve Guttenberg swiftly took action when a destructive wildfire started ravaging the Pacific Palisades region of California.
The swift fire has prompted the evacuation of approximately 20,000 residents, causing them to abandon their vehicles on the road out of panic as they are compelled to flee.
Rather than passively watching the situation unfold, I chose to actively help out our brave firefighters. I moved some vehicles aside to clear a path for the approaching fire engines.
He explained this to Gene Kang from KTLA 5: ‘The situation arises because individuals bring their car keys along, seemingly treating it like a parking lot. However, this isn’t a parking lot; we urgently request that people move their vehicles instead.’
If you decide not to take your car with you, please keep the key inside so I can move it aside, allowing fire trucks to access the area easily.
Guttenberg mentioned that some of his friends are stuck in a traffic jam on Palisades Drive and can’t leave because it’s crucial.
There are individuals stranded at the higher location, so we’re working on clearing Palisades Drive. I’m making my way up there on foot, pushing vehicles along as far as I can manage.
The Three Men And A Baby star also stressed the importance of saving lives and helping one another.
Gutenberg stated: “Up there, you’ll find families, pets, and individuals who desperately require aid.
‘Don’t worry about your personal property. Just get out. Get your loved ones and get out.’
Guttenberg, a major star in the ’80s, has made a comeback to acting after devoting around five years to caring for his father who sadly passed away due to kidney failure last summer, at the age of 89.
Currently, authorities have issued an urgent evacuation command for Pacific Palisades, asking residents to depart immediately.
Warning about evacuation resulted in a traffic jam on Sunset Boulevard due to Los Angeles locals departing hastily, abandoning their grand houses while a rapid 200-acre fire burns the surrounding terrain.
Some schools in Brentwood are also being evacuated.
Firefighter David Ortiz cautioned, “Stay clear of this fire. This is about as bad as it gets when battling a blaze.
X user, Jonathan Vigliotti posted a video of a car burning uncontrollably in a driveway.
‘Come on, guys!’ he called, his voice filled with fear. ‘We got to go!’
In a local area, fires erupted. Chaos filled the streets, and the strongest gusts of wind are expected to fan the Palisades Fire later tonight, as stated on X.
People swiftly left the vicinity as the fire kept spreading, with our KTLA teams having to vacate the location during their reporting.
On Tuesday, Southern California Edison (SCE) cut the electricity supply in Cuthbert, Galahad, and certain areas of Malibu as a precaution against potential fires, due to hazardous weather conditions.
The power outage may last for at least eight hours, potentially extending if workers require daylight to clearly examine the power lines and tools. This inspection must be conducted prior to Southern California Edison (SCE) reinstating the power supply.
Approximately 10,000 people are currently experiencing a power outage, as per poweroutage.us, and around 5,600 of these outages have been reported by Southern California Edison (SCE).
In Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, as reported by The New York Times, the fire is swiftly spreading westward, while wind gusts can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.
