The Count of Monte Cristo, the new period drama starring Sam Claflin, is now streaming in the UK.
According to Alexandre Dumas’s timeless 1846 novel, the series follows Claflin as Edmond Dantès, a French seafarer who is wrongfully charged with treason. After enduring 15 years in prison, he takes a bold step to reclaim his former life by staging an audacious escape.
With fresh insights gained from Abbe Faria (played by Jeremy Irons), imprisoned man Edmond discovers hidden riches and decides to exact retribution against those who harmed him using his newfound wealth. Adopting a different persona, he realizes upon his return that the world around him has undergone significant changes during his absence.
Following its debut at the 19th Rome Film Festival in October, the miniseries has been broadcast in various European nations, yet now, viewers in the UK can stream it thanks to UKTV.
