Pokémon Unite Zapdos Research event: Here’s how to get Zapdos for free

Okay, so Zapdos, the awesome new Attacker Pokémon, just dropped in Pokémon Unite! Starting February 27th, there’s a special Zapdos Research Event going on where you can snag its Unite License, a cool background, frame, and a bunch of other free goodies. I’m going to break down everything you need to know about the event and how to unlock Zapdos’ Unite License without spending a dime.

How to get Zapdos’ Unite License from the Zapdos Research Event

To unlock Zapdos and play as it in Unite, you’ll need to participate in the Zapdos’ Research event. This event involves studying and naming different parts of Zapdos’ body. As you complete each research task, you’ll earn Research Coins. You can then use these coins to get Zapdos’ Unite License and other special rewards.

The following are some tips to note while participating in the Mega Charizard X Research Event.

  • During the event, you can log in daily and clear missions to get Theses. Use these to increase the Research Gauge by 8%, 10%, 12%, or 16%. All values have an equal drop chance of 25%.
  • The next research will be unlocked once the Research Gauge reaches 100%.
  • If you can’t wait to clear each research task and mission, you can instantly clear them with Aeos Gems. Spending 5 Aeos Gems will instantly clear Daily missions, spending 10 Aeos Gems will instantly clear Weekly missions, and spending 5 Aeos Gems will instantly clear Special missions.
  • You will obtain research coins as the Research Gauge fills, which you can use to redeem Zapdos’ Unite license.
  • There are 8 Research levels in this event. On completing one, you will instantly proceed to the next level.

Missions and Rewards in Zapdos Research Event

As you finish event missions, you’ll earn Theses. These help fill your Research Gauge. The fuller your Research Gauge, the more Research Coins you’ll get. Here’s a list of the event missions:

  • Log in to the Game (Daily) – 1 Theses
  • Participate in 2 Battles with the following Role: Attacker (Daily) – 1 Theses
  • Knock out a total of 15 Opposing Pokémon (Weekly) – 2 Theses
  • Score a total of 80 Goals (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Log in a total of 7 days (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Win 10 Battles (Special)– 1 Theses
  • Score a total of 3 goals (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Make a total of 10 assists (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Login a total of 3 times (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Use a Unite Move 3 times (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Participate in 3 battles with Pokémon of different Roles (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Participate in 1 Battle with the following Role: Attacker (Special) – 1 Theses
  • Participate in 1 Battle with the following Role: All-rounder (Special) – 1 Theses

Rewards available from the Zapdos Research Event Exchange Shop

The following rewards are available for grabs in the Event exchange shop.

  • Zapdos Unite License – 650 Research Coins.
  • Exclusive Zapdos Background – 200 Research Coins
  • Exclusive Zapdos Frame – 100 Research Coins
  • Event-exclusive Stickers – 50 Research Coins
  • 3 Day Limited License: Zapdos – 50 Research Coins
  • 10 Aeos Tickets – 10 Research Coins
