Visitors excited about the new Pokémon area coming to Yomiuriland theme park in Tokyo next year should be prepared for a bit of a challenge. Poképark Kanto isn’t your typical theme park – it requires a certain level of physical fitness, has age limits, and is relatively expensive.
The park will open on February 5th of next year—earlier than planned! Guests will have three ticket options and plenty of space to discover the new area, which covers about 280,000 square feet. This includes Sedge Town and Pokémon Forest. Everyone with a ticket can enjoy Sedge Town’s rides, shows, and shops.
Access to Pokémon Forest, however, is more restricted.
The Long Walk
When the official website went live, eyebrows went up when hopeful fans found the fine print.
Pokémon Forest is a hilly, natural area with stairs. To keep everyone safe, there are some entry restrictions. Children under 5 with their guardians, anyone unable to climb 110 steps, and guests with other access restrictions are not permitted to enter, even with assistance.
This nature trail winds through the forest for 1,640 feet – roughly the length of six city blocks. It’s an unpaved, hilly path with a few tunnels, offering a fun, immersive experience for Pokémon fans aged 5 and up who are up for a challenge. However, the trail includes a steep 110-step staircase, which may make it difficult for some visitors and limit accessibility.

I’m really curious about how this step test will work and where we’ll even take it! It sounds like if it happens before we buy our tickets to Poképark Kanto, we don’t need to worry if we’re not super fit. But I wish they’d say what happens if you already have a ticket and then can’t pass the test – will we get our money back? That’s a bit unclear right now.
Ticket Costs
Tickets for Poképark Kanto at Yomiuriland cost extra and aren’t sold separately. Geeks + Gamers published a price list in both yen and US dollars.

A one-day, all-you-can-ride ticket to Yomiuriland (not including Poképark Kanto):
Admission fees are as follows: adults (18-64) pay 5,900 yen (about $37.45), those aged 12-17 pay 4,700 yen (about $29.83), and children aged 6-11 and seniors 65 and older pay 4,100 yen (about $26.02). Children aged 3-5 pay 2,500 yen (about $15.87).
The Trainer Pass ticket (allows access to both Sedge Town and Pokémon Forest):
I’m really excited about this! It looks like tickets start at around 7,900 yen (about $50) for adults – that’s anyone 13 and older. For kids between 3 and 12, it’s even more affordable, starting at 4,700 yen (around $30). And best of all, seniors 65 and up can get in for just 7,100 yen, which is about $45. It’s great to see options for everyone!
The Ace Trainer Pass (also known as the Elite Trainer Pass) gives you access to special areas and perks, including quicker entry to attractions in Sedge Town, unlimited ride access, a photo with Eevee and Pikachu, and complimentary souvenirs.
Prices start at 14,000 yen (approximately $88.91) for adults ages 13 and up. Children ages 3-12 start at 11,000 yen ($69.89), and seniors ages 65 and up start at 13,500 yen ($85.78).
The Town Pass ticket (no access to Pokémon Forest, only Sedge Town):
Prices start at 4,700 yen (about $29.86) for adults ages 13 and up. Children ages 3-12 start at 2,800 yen ($17.79), and seniors ages 65 and up start at 4,200 yen ($26.69).

A family of four adults with older children who are in good shape can expect to spend around $335.24 for a day playing Pokémon at the park. However, the park’s website says prices “start at” this amount, meaning they could be higher depending on when you visit – like on weekends, holidays, or during busy times, according to Soranews24.
Right now, you can only get tickets to Poképark Kanto through a lottery system. Because so many Pokémon fans around the world want to go, it’s likely to be a highly sought-after destination that many won’t be able to visit.
