Pokémon TCG Pocket to remove trade tokens and require shinedust for trades
In simpler terms, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) app on mobile devices is responding to user feedback by no longer requiring trade tokens when exchanging cards within the game.
In the world of Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket, there was much excitement surrounding the introduction of trading as a feature. However, upon its rollout, opinions within the community were quite varied. The specifics, such as Stamina, trade tokens, and certain limitations, didn’t align with many players’ expectations. Now, it has been announced that trades in Pokémon TCG Pocket will undergo a significant overhaul.
Due to valuable input from the community, the Pokémon TCG Pocket development team promises an upgrade for their trading feature. According to them, these changes are expected to be completed by the end of autumn 2025, eliminating the need for trade tokens in the process.
Trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket will now require shinedust instead of trade tokens
Through their X account, Pokémon TCG Pocket published a detailed communique to the community. In it, they acknowledged the valuable feedback from the community and announced upcoming modifications to the trading system, which are expected to be rolled out prior to the end of the current year.
Here are the main points of the message:
- Exchanging cards is no longer required to obtain currency to trade cards
- Trade tokens are being completely removed
- Existing tokens can be converted to shinedust after removal
- Three-Diamond, Four-Diamond, and One-Star cards require shinedust now
- Shinedust is automatically earned whenever you obtain a card already registered in your Card Dex
- A new feature is in development that allows you to express what cards you are interested in trading for
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the substantial upgrade in the trading system within the Pokémon TCG Pocket. Notably, the developers have mentioned they’re exploring ways to make even the non-tradable cards, such as promos and Two-Stars, tradeable. This is truly exciting news!
In terms of One-Diamond and Two-Diamond trading cards, there are no alterations. Additionally, they’re considering an increase in the shinedust accumulation as it will now serve a dual purpose: earning flair and trading cards.
