As a Pokémon TCG fan, I’m so excited! The skies are about to get a whole lot more intense in Pokémon TCG Pocket because The Pokémon Company just announced the next big expansion: Ruler of the Skies! It’s coming out on July 29, 2026, and get this – it’s bringing one of the most famous Dragon-type Pokémon into the game. I can’t wait!
Get ready for the arrival of Mega Rayquaza ex, along with other Pokémon inspired by the skies! Pokémon TCG Pocket is getting a lot of new content and events this summer. Here’s a full rundown of everything launching on July 29th, 2026.

Mega Rayquaza ex arrives in the Ruler of the Skies expansion
The biggest highlight of this new expansion is Mega Rayquaza ex, a powerful card you can find in the upcoming booster packs. The set will also include other cards featuring strong Flying-type Pokémon to help you build an even bigger collection.
Starting August 1, 2026, we’re celebrating Mega Rayquaza’s arrival with special cover images and backgrounds featuring the legendary Pokémon!
New features are also arriving
The new Ruler of the Skies update isn’t just about new content, though! They’re adding some really cool features that make building my decks and battling way smoother. The best part? I can now easily share my decklists with friends – it creates a kind of 2D code you can send to anyone. It’s awesome for showing off what I’ve been working on and helping other players try out new strategies!
This update makes managing duplicate cards easier in the Card Dex. Now, if you get a card from more than one expansion set (like different booster packs), it’ll be correctly recorded for all of those sets – even if you already have that card.
Opening booster packs now has a neat feature: if you meet specific requirements, your next pack from that same set is guaranteed to contain a rare card (or better).
Summer events bring more rewards and challenges
The release of The Ruler of the Skies marks the beginning of a summer-long event series. Between late July and late October, you’ll be able to complete Handy Card Collection Missions to unlock helpful Trainer cards, including Leaf, Sabrina, and Red, all of which can enhance your battle tactics.
From late July through early August, a special summer event will be available featuring missions, battles, and rewards like booster packs and other useful items. For competitive players, we’re also hosting the Ruler of the Skies Emblem Event in early to mid-August.
Win battles to get emblems, and finish missions to collect things like Shinedust. Also happening now is Community Week, where trading and sharing cards earns you trade hourglasses, unique accessories, and more!
In late August, look forward to the Mega Houndoom ex Drop Event! Winning solo battles will earn you special B Series Vol. 11 promo packs. We’re also bringing back the Wonder Pick event with Pachirisu and Beldum cards, plus the Deluxe Pack: ex booster packs will be available again.
