Fans who play the Pokémon Trading Card Game on the go have a new set of Generation 9 cards to look forward to, as it’s set to be released soon.
With excitement building for the next Pokémon card generation, Pokémon TCG Pocket is highlighting Paldean Pokémon with the new Paldean Wonders set, bringing cards from Generation 9 into play.
A new trailer released on Pokémon’s social media showcased several cards from the upcoming Paldean Wonders expansion, including cards for all the starter Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Many of the cards feature artwork that also appears in actual Pokémon Trading Card Game sets, particularly those from the Scarlet and Violet series.
Everything you need to know:
- Cards featured in Paldean Wonders
- Pokémon TCG Pocket events scheduled after the Paldean Wonders set
- Paldean Wonders release date
All Paldean Wonders cards we know so far
As a Pokémon fan, I was really excited to see this new set focus on the Pokémon from the Paldea region! And of course, the big stars of the set are the Generation 9 starters – Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly. It makes perfect sense they’d be featured so prominently!
Currently, we only know Sprigatito’s final evolved form, Meowscarada ex, will be included in the set. Because of this, it’s likely that Skeledirge ex and Quaquaval ex will also be part of the lineup.
The Paldean Wonders set also includes basic Pokémon cards featuring Pawmi, Smoliv, Fidough, Wooper, Tinkatink, Klawf, and Ceruledge.
Ceruledge is a strong and quick Pokémon card to use – it evolves in just one turn. Its move, Fighting Sword, makes it a great choice for battling Pokémon ex with minimal risk, much like Pom-Pom Oricorio and Silvally.
The trailer showcased a couple of key cards from the first set, Gholdengo ex and Maushold. Gholdengo ex seems like it will be a powerful card for Metal-type decks, particularly if used with cards that provide extra Metal Energy. Maushold is notable as the first card revealed in the set to have a full-art design.
The Trainer cards in this set feature Mesagoza, Nemona, and Arven. Their designs are the same as the artwork used on their cards from the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s Scarlet and Violet Base Set and Paldean Fates expansion.
