List of featured Pokémon and Cards in the Space-Time Smackdown Expansion
This new set is much bigger than the mini-set of the Mythical Island that was launched in December 2024. Additionally, it comes with over 140 cards divided into two new booster packs named Dialga and Palkia. Notably, this release introduces a new mechanism called Pokémon Tools, borrowed directly from the real-world Pokémon Trading Card Game. Furthermore, the set includes Sinnoh-themed cards, including popular characters such as Dialga ex, Palkia ex, and the Sinnoh starters – Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup.

With the introduction of the new trading feature scheduled for January 29, 2025, this expansion marks not just a collection of cards, but rather a significant milestone shaping the game’s upcoming direction.
Confirmed Pokemon in Space-Time Smackdown
So far, quite a few cards have been unveiled, and the excitement is palpable! Let’s take a peek at some impressive newcomers:

- Chimchar – Monferno – Infernape
- Turtwig – Grotle – Torterra
- Piplup – Prinlup – Empoleon
- Leafeon
- Palkia
- Pachirisu
- Cresselia
- Lucario
- Murkrow – Honchkrow
- Dialga
- Gible – Gabite – Garchomp
Among all these cards, Palkia ex has shown promising potential as one of the top picks in this set. It boasts 150 HP and offers two attacks: Slash, dealing 30 damage for just one energy, and Dimensional Storm, inflicting 150 damage for four energy while also causing 20 damage to each of your opponent’s benched Pokémon. This makes it both formidable and adaptable. However, the downside of having to discard three Water Energy cards adds a tactical challenge when using Palkia ex.
The long-awaited Trading Feature is coming along with the update
The trading functionality in Pokémon TCG Pocket is set to go live on January 28, 2025, which is one day prior to the release of the Space-Time Smackdown expansion.
- Friend-Based Trading: Accepting trades will only be available through friend lists.
- Same-Rarity Trades: Trades involving the swapping of others will be accepted only when both parties involved have equal rarity cards.
- Item Requirements: For this trade to initiate, it must have two items Trade Hourglasses and Trade Tokens.
- Cards Supported: Initially, support includes the Genetic Apex cards and the cards from Mythical Island. Additionally, cards from other expansions will be included in later iterations.
Significantly, cards from the Space-Time Smackdown expansion won’t be tradeable initially, encouraging players to acquire their collections primarily through booster packs at first. The Space-Time Smackdown expansion isn’t merely an upgrade; it’s a transformative shift in gameplay.
Hi there! The Pokémon TCG Pocket Team is excited to share some insights about the impending trade functionality and fresh content in our game. They are thoughtfully considering how this new feature might affect both players’ enjoyment and the overall gameplay when it goes live.
