Pokémon TCG Pocket announces new Booster Packs, Trading feature and more coming soon in future updates

Story Highlights

  • Pokémon TCG Pocket is rolling out these updates by the end of this year and into early January 2025.
  • The operations team plans to gradually expand the selection of cards available for trade following the introduction of the trading feature.
  • They are also developing other features, aside from the trade feature.

As a seasoned Pokémon TCG enthusiast with years of collecting and trading under my belt, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming updates for Pokémon TCG Pocket! The Genetic Apex Emblem Event was a fantastic start, but the introduction of new booster packs and the long-awaited trading feature has me buzzing with anticipation.

The Pokemon Company has shared its plan for the forthcoming content in the Pokemon TCG Pocket, which includes a significant update bringing in new booster packs, limited card swapping opportunities, and extra features that are being worked on at present.

Pokémon TCG Pocket will be introducing booster packs and trading feature for certain cards

In a recent announcement, the developers unveiled their strategy for fresh content, showcasing various significant aspects that will be rolled out over the next few months. This move comes on the heels of their remarkable launch success, which saw them earn $33 million in revenue and garner 30 million downloads within a week of its debut.

By the year’s end, developers have announced that fresh booster packs will join the game, enlarging the existing lineup which now includes Genetic Apex packs for characters like Mewtwo, Charizard, and Pikachu. However, they haven’t specified an exact release date. Starting from early January, a new card trading feature is also expected to debut in the game.

The developers have announced that they intend to introduce a new feature, effective from January 2025, which will enable certain cards to be traded. They’ve also mentioned they aim to broaden the scope of tradeable cards over time. However, specific details about which cards can be traded and whether there will be any time constraints have not been provided yet. It’s worth noting that time limitations in this game, like the current 12-hour wait to open a Genetic Apex pack, can be quite frustrating.

More features will be added to the game following these updates

Moreover, they’re not stopping with just the new trade feature; they’ve got other innovative features in the pipeline too. They mentioned in their announcement, “We have more fresh features under development beyond what you see here today. We will share further details about these updates as we nail down the release dates, so stay tuned!
