Pokémon Sleep is now the most downloaded gamified sleep app in the world, officially recognized by Guinness World Records

Should you be unfamiliar, Pokémon Sleep is a mobile application designed to make your sleep an enjoyable and beneficial journey. Simply position your phone next to your pillow as you prepare for bed, and this app will monitor and evaluate your sleep habits.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed an intriguing twist in the world of Pokémon – depending on my sleep patterns and quality, rare, collectible sleep poses of various Pokémon start appearing! This innovative fusion of health and gaming fun was recognized with a Guinness World Record at the FUN SLEEP FEST: Wake Up with Excitement event in Tokyo back in 2023. It’s an exhilarating new way to experience my favorite game!

Guinness representatives were there to present the accolade for “the sleep app with the highest number of game-related downloads” to both The Pokémon Company and Takato Utsunomiya, who is the COO of the company. Utsunomiya graciously accepted the award and expressed gratitude towards everyone for their ongoing support.

He additionally declared, “We’ll keep working hard to make sleep a delightful experience for people.” Notably, as of May 15th, the app has recorded over a billion sleep sessions, demonstrating its extensive popularity and adoration among users. In fact, I too am considering giving it a try.

At the 2-year anniversary event held in Tokyo, attendees included Hayato Sano from M!LK, actress Mirai Shida, and comedian Hiccorohee. They participated in themed sleep challenges that demonstrated the app’s interactive capabilities. Ryogo Matsumaru came back to serve as a judge for the Three Sleep Challenges, which added a delightful touch to the event.
