Pokémon Presents unveils Mega Dragonite and fresh faces in Pokémon Legends Z-A

In July 2025’s Pokémon Presents, details were shared regarding the characters players will meet in the upcoming game, Legends Z-A, along with the unveiling of Dragonite’s newly transformed Mega Evolution form.

The excitement for Pokémon Legends Z-A is growing after its official announcement in the Pokémon Presents live broadcast. During this event, it was disclosed that Mega Dragonite would be introduced, along with fresh characters who will breathe life into Lumiose City.

In the scene where the player character battles against a powerful Tyranitar, the latest Pokémon Presents presentation unveiled Dragonite as a newly found Mega-Evolved Pokémon. This transformation from its usual state to Mega Evolution is characterized by growing large wings on its head and possessing a pearl-like orb at the end of its tail.

Community reacts to Mega Dragonite in Pokémon Legends Z-A

The unique appearance of Mega Dragonite sparked lively discussions on various social platforms, with its fans expressing a range of opinions.

Some users of X observed that Mega Dragonite seemed similar to Patamon from Digimon in their minds, yet others felt that attaching wings to Dragonite’s head might not be an effective design choice.

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that the unveiling of Mega Dragonite left an indelible impression on me. Initially, it took some time for its design to fully resonate, but as I delved deeper, I found myself captivated by its unique features. It seems this evolutionary leap has successfully bridged the design gap between Dragonair and its previous form, Dragonite, in a way that truly satisfies my appreciation for the series’ progression.

More characters join the Lumiose gang

Apart from AZ, his companions Floette, Jett, and Vinnie, the story in Pokémon Legends Z-A is expected to focus on Team MZ as well. This team has taken an oath to safeguard Lumiose City from various dangers.

Some of Team MZ’s members include the following:

  • Urbain/Taunie
  • Naveen
  • Lida

During the Pokémon Presents livestream, we caught a glimpse of some characters who might turn out to be the game’s villains based on their designs. One such group is The Rust Syndicate, headquartered in Lumiose City, led by a formidable trainer named Corbeau. In the Z-A Royale competition, which takes place exclusively at night, he’ll prove to be one of the hardest trainers to conquer.

As a gamer, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of two familiar faces in our upcoming battles. Emma, the detective I encountered in Pokémon X and Y, has reappeared in Pokémon Legends Z-A, tasking me with new missions to solve. Additionally, Mable – a former member of Team Flare who managed to escape her past – now runs Lumiose’s Pokémon Research Lab as its acting director.
