Recent leaks suggest that Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green, the original remakes of the classic games, are coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Good news for Pokémon lovers! Reliable sources are saying that Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green – the original Pokémon remakes – are coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
Here is everything we know.
Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green to get Switch ports via leaks
In 2004, Pokémon revisited its original game world with the releases of Fire Red and Leaf Green. These remakes allowed players to return to the Kanto region and challenge the notorious Team Rocket once again.
As the 30th anniversary of Pokémon approaches, a reliable leaker named Riddler_Khu has announced that Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green are making a comeback. Riddler_Khu, who has a history of accurate Pokémon predictions, shared the news on Twitter, stating that the remakes will be released in the near future.
This news is big for Pokémon fans, considering these games are some of the most beloved remakes in the series. Beyond that, several other sources have shared information, but it’s important to remember that everything is currently unconfirmed.
Release date
Okay, so there’s no official release date yet, but a lot of people who dig for leaks are saying the new games will drop on Pokémon Day, right after the big presentation. Pokémon Day is February 27th every year, and honestly, they always do something big for it – new game announcements, trading card stuff, the whole nine yards!
Remake or port?
Everyone’s wondering if this new game is a complete remake or just a slightly updated version of an older one. Another full remake of the Kanto region seems pretty unlikely, especially since we already have the Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu games.
Despite previous speculation, it’s now confirmed this game will be a standalone purchase on the Nintendo eShop, not included with Nintendo Switch Online. It will also support use with the Nintendo Switch’s Home menu.
Honestly, I’m expecting this game to run on both my current Switch and the new Switch 2. It doesn’t seem like it’ll be a super demanding game, so hopefully, both consoles can handle it!
Are you looking forward to the rerelease of Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green?
