Plunderstorm returns with a trove of new rewards
On January 14th, the return of Plunderstorm in the World of Warcraft brings fresh rewards and an opportunity for everyone to emerge victorious.
Next week on January 14th, the Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft (WoW) is making its comeback. This means that players can once more venture into the Arathi Highlands, where they can gather loot, pillage, and fight their enemies in a massive 60-player battle royale. With fresh rewards on offer and many familiar ones from the earlier version, expect long queues as players rush to participate in this limited-time event.
What is Plunderstorm?
In simple terms, Plunderstorm is World of Warcraft’s version of the battle royale genre. Here, 60 players are dropped into the Arathi Highlands to gather power-ups and abilities before fighting it out to be the last player or group standing. As in other battle royale games, the playable area gradually shrinks, pushing players together for more intense combat as the game progresses. To participate, you do need an active World of Warcraft subscription, but you don’t necessarily need deep knowledge of the game to enjoy it.
As a gamer immersed in this virtual world, the ultimate goal of each battle isn’t just about claiming victory, but rather it’s about amassing something truly valuable – the “Plunder”. This unique currency is earned right within the heat of the event. There are various strategies to gather Plunder, and here’s a rundown:
1. Participate in strategic battles: Winning these fights can net you a decent amount of Plunder.
2. Complete special quests: These side missions often offer Plunder as rewards.
3. Loot fallen enemies: Don’t forget to scavenge the remains of your defeated foes for any leftover Plunder.
4. Trade with other players: If you have surplus resources, you can negotiate trades for Plunder with fellow gamers.
5. Daily login bonuses: Logging in every day can also earn you a small but consistent amount of Plunder.
- Killing mobs scattered throughout Arathi Highlands
- Simply looting it off the floor
- Killing other players
- Winning the round
- Completing quests
- Opening chests
Once a match concludes, regardless if you triumph or are knocked out, all your accumulated Plunders can be taken with you and used in the Plunderstore for spending.
Plunderstorm rewards
Initially in its initial phase, Plunderstorm’s rewards were earned via “Renown,” an system akin to World of Warcraft’s reputation system, but with a maximum level cap of 40 for the best rewards. In the updated version, players will accumulate Plunder and then spend it at the Plunderstore. This allows players to prioritize their purchases, however, nearly 40,000 Plunder is needed for every new item that becomes available.
The perks encompass pets, playthings, names, weapon and armor transformations, and steeds too, with some fresh additions and others reappearing from the initial Plunderstorm occasion.
As a gamer, here’s a breakdown of some fresh and familiar goodies you can look forward to grabbing during the upcoming event. You can already get a sneak peek by diving into the Plunderstore with this script I’ve got below. But remember, no shopping spree can happen until the event officially kicks off on January 14 for North America or January 15 for Europe. So mark your calendars, fellow gamers!
