Sony is planning some significant changes to PlayStation Plus in January 2026. Many feel this timing—right after the holiday season—is particularly inconvenient.
Okay, so everyone knows PlayStation Plus is getting a big shakeup in January 2026 – they’re starting to remove PS4 games from the Premium tier. But what’s new is we now know the first wave of games getting pulled, and honestly, it makes the list of free games for next month a little less exciting. It’s a bummer to see those titles go!
PlayStation Plus Losing At Least Three Games In January
Consider this your early warning

PlayStation Plus Extra regularly updates its game library, adding new titles and removing others each month. It’s disappointing when a game you wanted to try is taken off the service, but thanks to a Reddit user, we have some advance notice. They noticed three PlayStation Plus games were added to the “Last Chance to Play” section on the Japanese PlayStation Network, letting players know they won’t be available for much longer.
Currently, this information is only confirmed for Japan, but games removed from the service are usually the same worldwide. Therefore, we’re fairly certain these are the first three games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra in January.
- Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
- SD Gundam Battle Alliance
- Sayonara Wild Hearts
It’s important to understand that many more than three games will be removed from the service in the future. Just this past December, we lost access to 12 games, including:
- Battlefield 2042
- Grand Theft Auto 3
- Arcade Paradise VR
- Sonic Frontiers
- Forspoken
- Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge
- Firefighting Simulator: The Squad
- Surviving Mars
- Star Trek Bridge Crew
- Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet
- River City Melee Mach!!
- 11-11 Memories Retold
Don’t Sleep On Sayonara Wild Hearts
Seriously, it’s awesome
All three games leaving next month are fantastic, but I especially urge you to play Sayonara Wild Hearts before it’s gone. This 2019 rhythm game is incredibly stylish and energetic, and the music is amazing!
Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a great RPG, and since these games will be available until around mid-January, you have plenty of time to enjoy this standout title on PlayStation Plus.
