PlatinumGames Loses Five Game Directors, Hideki Kamiya Reveals
In a new video, Hideki Kamiya has revealed that five game directors have left PlatinumGames.
Here are the team members who have worked on various projects such as Bayonetta Origins (directed by Abebe Tinari), Astral Chain (directed by Takahisa Taura), Bayonetta 3 (directed by Yusuke Miyata), Metal Gear Rising (directed by Kenji Saito), and Anarchy Reigns (character designed by Masaki Yamanaka).
The following individuals have been involved in developing different PlatinumGames projects, including Bayonetta Origins helmed by Abebe Tinari, Astral Chain under the direction of Takahisa Taura, Bayonetta 3 led by Yusuke Miyata, Metal Gear Rising directed by Kenji Saito, and Anarchy Reigns with Masaki Yamanaka as its character designer.
In Kamiya’s video (through VGC), both Tinari and Taura make an appearance, but their final destinations remain unclear at this point. While we do know that Tinari is now part of Housemarque, the details beyond that are still uncertain.
It’s possible that some might opt to work with Kamiya at his recently unveiled studio, Clovers, which was announced towards the end of last year – together with the anticipated “Ōkami 2”.
In the video, Kamiya emphasizes that no matter where these developers go, we can eagerly anticipate what they will create in the future.
People design games, and whatever comes next from them will be uniquely their creation. Keep an eye out for the fascinating output of their talents!
All eyes are on Ōkami 2, and we will see where some of these talented devs end up.
