Pitch Perfect star Adam Devine has revealed he was told that he was dying by doctors last year.
In a recent interview on “In Depth with Graham Bensinger,” actor Devine, known for portraying Bumper Allen in the musical-comedy series, disclosed that he’s been managing ongoing pain for several years. He attributes this health issue to an incident from his childhood, suggesting it as the probable cause.
As I stepped out of my doctor’s office, I felt a mix of emotions when I learned about my new diagnosis: Stiff-person syndrome, or as it’s sometimes called, Moersch-Woltman syndrome. This condition means my muscles will progressively stiffen and spasm, and as a gamer, I can only imagine how this might affect my gaming sessions. It’s a challenge, but I’m ready to face it head-on, just like I tackle the toughest levels in my favorite games.

If your muscles stiffen up so much that they prevent you from walking or moving at all, it means they’ve become extremely tensed. This extreme tension can cause your heart, which is also a muscle, to stop beating. When the heart can no longer contract, you eventually lose consciousness and pass away.
Essentially, the average lifespan given to him was six years. Previously, doctors had informed him that he was terminally ill. Remarkably, just this past year, they repeated this grim news to him,” he disclosed, continuing by revealing that the diagnosis came a month before the arrival of his son, Beau.
After consulting with a specialist in the area of SPS, Devine learned with relief that he didn’t have the condition. Instead, his present health issue is a lingering consequence from an accident during his childhood when a cement truck struck him, causing him to fracture every bone in his body.
Devine expressed that his daily schedule has been extremely uncomfortable, as prolonged sitting, standing, or walking all cause him pain. He needs to use a foam roller multiple times a day and also performs stretching exercises several times a day.
Divine, known for his role in “The Righteous Gemstones“, also mentioned that he received stem cell therapy in Colombia. He shared that the treatment seems to be effective and currently, he feels better than he has in the past three years.
