Pirate sites claim to have House of the Dragon episode 9... don't be fooled!

As a veteran gamer who’s been around the block more times than I care to count, I must say that the cliffhanger ending of House of the Dragon season 2 left me feeling like a dragon caught in a trap – eagerly waiting for my freedom! However, when I stumbled upon those pirate sites offering a ‘bonus’ episode 9, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of excitement. But then common sense kicked in, and I remembered that the only thing you can catch from such sites is a malware infection worse than a White Walker invasion!

The season 2 finale of House of the Dragon perfectly set up an epic next installment, so everyone was left a little frustrated when they realized it was actually the end of the season. We’ve now got to wait a couple of years for season 3 to air, which will undoubtedly begin with the battle we’re all desperate to see. Now, some pirate sites are taking advantage of fans’ impatience, claiming to have the ‘bonus’ episode 9…which is actually malware.

To avoid finding yourself ensnared by this fraudulent scheme, here’s a straightforward advice: steer clear of torrent sites. However, it’s important to note that shows like Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon have been among the most pirated TV series ever produced. In fact, Game of Thrones has held the ‘most-pirated’ title for several years consecutively. When House of the Dragon debuted in 2022, it accounted for a staggering 17% of the streams and downloads among the top 10 most pirated TV series.

As a passionate fan, I can’t help but express my disbelief at the concept of pirate sites producing a counterfeit episode and tricking fans like us. It might seem absurd or far-fetched, but considering the multitude of individuals who resort to these sites, it wouldn’t be surprising if some unwittingly fell for it. HBO has taken swift action in response, as reported by TorrentFreak, by requesting Google to remove an “infringing” link to this fraudulent ninth episode.

It’s uncommon to encounter situations such as this one, where pirates create a false episode and share a link primarily designed to distribute viruses. Amazingly, people are being tricked by it. The report from TorrentFreak indicates that the fictitious episode has been downloaded not just hundreds but potentially thousands of times. Oh dear!

In simpler terms, the final episode of “House of the Dragon” left many viewers puzzled about its conclusion. It seems that some unscrupulous fans have seized upon this ambiguity to create their own stories, akin to pirates exploiting a loophole.

It’s obvious that: Avoid pirated websites, everyone. Instead, show your support for the genuine creators of these productions, such as House of the Dragon. One viewing might seem insignificant, but it accumulates in making a difference. Currently, season 2 of House of the Dragon is available on Max, and there’s no secret ‘bonus’ episode waiting to be found elsewhere.
