Pip Edwards admits she was in ‘denial’ over private health struggle: ‘I never thought it would happen to me’
As an ardent fan of Pip Edwards, her journey through menopause at such an early age resonates deeply with me. Her courage to openly discuss this sensitive topic is commendable, and it serves as a beacon of hope for many women experiencing similar struggles.
Pip Edwards openly discusses her individual journey through menopause, which started for her at the young age of 39.
Fourty-four-year-old fashion designer confessed that she was in a state of denial when she began experiencing severe hot flashes and difficulty sleeping around five years back.
On Tuesday, she shared with The Daily Telegraph that she felt compelled to continue working without altering her lifestyle in any way.
‘I never thought it would happen to me at 39, so it wasn’t even on my radar,’ she said.
Instead of arriving at work composed, I’d show up noticeably stressed, exhausted, and on the verge of tears. After all, one can maintain a facade for a limited time.
Pip later learned that her mother had also experienced symptoms early in life.
The designer disclosed that she’s utilizing a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) patch and pills to alleviate her symptoms.
Menopause refers to the point in a woman’s life where she has not had a period for one full year, which marks the end of her reproductive cycle.
The term perimenopause refers to the transition phase into menopause, and can involve symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles, hot flashes, decreased fertility and sleep issues.
In their mid-40s, most Australian women start approaching menopause, with this stage typically lasting until they reach an age between 45 and 60.
Pip spoke for the first time about her private struggle with menopause back in March last year.
She mentioned that she hadn’t paid attention to her symptoms before experiencing a intense heatwave during her son Justice’s basketball match, as she was deeply engrossed in staying fit, expanding her business, and nurturing her only child, whom she co-parents with Dan Single.
She eventually decided to visit a fertility clinic to freeze her eggs.

Sadly, the procedure couldn’t be performed because egg freezing was prohibited under Covid regulations, which barred elective surgeries.
Despite trying hormone replacement therapy, she couldn’t postpone menopause because her symptoms were too intense to allow for delay.
By the time she was taken off hold for the procedure, it was too late.
She expressed her disbelief and sadness to Stellar, stating that she had never imagined it wasn’t possible for her to have another child, given her good health, fitness, and vitality at this stage in her life.
If I had a deeper understanding of my family background and engaged in more discussions, perhaps by the time I was in my early 30s, I could have been better prepared with various options to navigate the path of life I eventually chose.
