Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour confirms he will never perform with ex bandmate Roger Waters again after antisemitism row as he opens up on feud

David Gilmour, the famous musician from Pink Floyd, has stated he will never play music with Roger Waters again, due to their ongoing disagreement.

Gilmour, 79, and Waters, 82, have been feuding for decades since the latter quit the group in 1985.

In 2023, David Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, publicly accused Roger Waters of being deeply antisemitic during an online argument about Israel and Ukraine. David Gilmour subsequently voiced his agreement with her accusations.

Polly commented online about Waters, likely reacting to an article he’d posted about Israel.

She publicly accused Roger Waters of being deeply antisemitic and a supporter of Vladimir Putin. She also called him a liar, thief, hypocrite, tax evader, and claimed he was envious and power-hungry, in addition to being misogynistic and a phony.

Waters responded by denouncing the claims as ‘wildly inaccurate’ and ‘incendiary’.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen firsthand how public disagreements can be so tough. Recently, David Gilmour publicly supported his wife’s statement online, essentially confirming everything she said about Roger Waters was accurate and truthful. It’s a clear case of standing by your partner and validating their perspective, which is something I always encourage in healthy relationships.

Following the recent issues, David Gilmour has stated in an interview with The Telegraph that Pink Floyd will not reform for any future concerts.

He said: ‘There is no possible way that I would do that.’

In July, Waters potentially broke the law when he posted a video showing his support for Palestine Action, a group that has since been banned.

In a recent social media video, the musician claimed that a foreign power intent on genocide has corrupted Parliament, and urged people to take action immediately.

He strongly criticized the government’s decision to designate Palestine Action as a ‘terrorist organization,’ calling it a failure of both justice and democratic principles.

In a video posted online, the singer and bass guitarist criticized Israel and accused the UK government led by Sir Keir Starmer of being influenced by those supporting genocide.

Campaign Against Antisemitism, a charity, announced they were preparing to take legal action against the singer in response to his post.

Okay, so I just saw they officially responded to Roger Waters’ video, and honestly, it’s infuriating! Basically, they’re saying because Palestine Action is banned, *anyone* – even someone like Roger who’s just showing support – could be in trouble with the law. They’re specifically bringing up some act from 2000, saying it’s a crime to back them. It’s just… unbelievable they’re trying to silence anyone who stands with Palestine!

We’re prepared to take legal action ourselves against anyone who commits a crime if the official authorities don’t pursue the case.

Roger Waters has publicly criticized Israel’s military operations in the Middle East and recently had a public disagreement with David Gilmour, exchanging critical comments online.

In June 2021, Roger Waters published a strongly worded statement on his website about his continuing disagreement with David Gilmour, who had become a member of the band in 1967, two years after it first started.

Roger Waters left the band in 1985, but he did rejoin them for a performance at the Live 8 concert in London’s Hyde Park on July 2, 2005. He has also been a vocal critic of Israel.

In July, he publicly supported the Palestine Action group, declaring July 5th, 2025, as ‘Independence Day’.

I am choosing to separate myself from the UK government. I firmly support the work of Palestine Action and will continue to do so, as I believe it’s the morally correct position.

This is a powerful moment of solidarity – it’s great to see so many people everywhere standing together and declaring their support.

We strongly oppose the current UK Labour government and will continue to challenge their policies. Palestine Action is not a terrorist group, and claims to the contrary are false. That’s my only comment on the matter.

Pink Floyd, the famous band behind albums like The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, last played a concert together at the Live 8 charity event in 2005.

Waters had previously spoken to Berliner Zeitung, a German magazine, to deny accusations of anti-Semitism.

Sharing the article on Twitter, the musician wrote: ‘The Truth Will Set Us Free.’

Despite a false and hurtful campaign by pro-Israel groups falsely accusing me of antisemitism – a claim that is completely untrue and which I strongly reject –

Waters argued that the primary motivation for sending weapons to Ukraine is likely the financial gain of arms manufacturers.

I’m left wondering if Putin is more of a criminal than Joe Biden and the leaders who’ve shaped American politics since World War II. It’s debatable. Unlike the U.S., Putin hasn’t launched invasions of countries like Vietnam or Iraq, has he?

He additionally claimed Israel was committing genocide and drew parallels between its actions and those of Great Britain during its colonial history.

He argued that the belief in one’s own superiority over native populations – similar to what he sees happening between Israelis and Palestinians – is false. He stated that his own people were not superior, and neither are Israeli Jews.
