Pierce Brosnan and Joanne Froggatt pictured on set of Guy Richie’s new series The Associate for the first time as they join Tom Hardy in London
As a seasoned movie buff with decades of film-viewing experience under my belt, I must say that the recent news about Tom’s latest project, The Associate, has piqued my interest significantly. The man is no stranger to delivering captivating performances, and his collaboration with director Guy Ritchie once again promises an exciting cinematic ride.
Pierce Brosnan and Joanne Froggatt were spotted for the first time on the set of Guy Richie’s new series The Associate in London on Saturday.
In the heart of our nation’s capital, I find myself amidst the hustle and bustle of a major gangster series production. The legendary James Bond star, now in his seventies, and the captivating Downton Abbey actress, aged 44, have joined forces with Tom Hardy for what appears to be intense filming sessions.
For this undertaking, Pierce, sporting a smooth face, presented an elegant appearance in a blue shirt, black pants, and a grey-brown trench coat draped casually on top.
With a jovial demeanor, he retrieved a pair of brown leather gloves from his pocket and casually explored the London film set.
The illustrious ensemble additionally features the Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren, portraying one half of a married pair alongside Pierce.
In the storyline, they depict Maeve and Conrad Harrigan, a power couple who jointly lead one of the most influential Irish crime organizations based in London.
As Tom portrays Harry Da Souza, a risky ‘problem solver’ who doubles as an ally for the Harrigans to resolve any issues, with Joanne assuming the character of his spouse, Jan Da Souza.
The Paramount+ series is about two powerful families in London, whose businesses span across the world. A dedicated ‘protector’ or ‘intermediary’ is tasked with safeguarding one of these families, no matter what the cost.
On the set, both Tom and Joanne had a bustling day, shooting multiple sequences near the city center’s canal, where Tom’s character appeared to bid farewell while escorting Joanne towards a boat, carrying some possessions along.
In one frame, the actor moves closer to plant a kiss on her cheek and murmur words into her ear, whereas another captures them engaged in a heated discussion.
Tom appeared intelligent, slipping effortlessly into his role while wearing a sharp jacket and black jeans. On the other hand, Joanne, who welcomed her first baby in September, adorned herself in a comfortable, blue trench coat with padding.
Later on, she changed her outfit for a tan coat, gathered her golden hair into a tidy bun, and carried a brown handbag with her.
The newly released photos arrive following Tom’s generous pledge to cover the salaries of all personnel in a TV production team for the upcoming Guy Ritchie project, after a construction firm encountered financial difficulties.
Approximately fifty independent construction laborers faced disappointment when the set-building company, Helix 3D, which they were working for, unexpectedly shut down, as reported by The Times.
The account goes that the company declined to distribute £250,000 in salaries prior to Christmas, and Brian Dowling, the CEO, communicated last week a disheartening note indicating that the pay might not reach their accounts until after the New Year.
Only when actor Tom intervened by agreeing to cover the workers’ salaries did Paramount find a solution and begin processing their payments.
According to a reliable source familiar with Tom, he suggested making the payment, but the production team and Paramount have already handled it. (The Times)
In response, a representative from Paramount expressed strong disapproval of the circumstances and assured that necessary measures would be taken to ensure the workers received their wages.
In a letter obtained by the publication, representative Chris Hudson from the broadcasting union Bectu stated: “It is essential that our workers are given proper regard and prompt payment for their contributions.
It’s deeply troubling that they have to deal with severe financial instability, especially with the upcoming holiday season of Christmas approaching.
As Christmas approaches, our members are understandably worried, as numerous individuals are concerned they won’t be able to meet their essential needs.
In the past, while shooting a series in London, the team was always ready to ensure that Tom looked his best – with meticulous attention given to his makeup and wardrobe – prior to starting filming.
As I eagerly awaited my cue, I could hardly contain my excitement as director Guy sauntered over for a pre-scene huddle with none other than our leading man. I held my breath, hoping to catch a glimpse of any last-minute advice or instructions he might bestow upon him, knowing full well that such insights could only elevate the performance of our beloved star.
In our new project, the Director teams up with the Venom actor again, following their first joint effort in the 2008 crime thriller, RocknRolla.
Apart from Tom, Guy, Jez Butterworth, and Kris Thykier are all set to serve as executive producers for the Paramount+ series, with Tom included in the lineup.
Production got off to a rocky start with the London set being robbed twice in one week, with thieves said to have made off with £1million worth of camera kit.
Back in chilly November, I was there, right smack in the middle of it all – the scene of the audacious heist! The production team and the security were hard at work, when suddenly, two slick characters in a sleek Toyota Prius cruised onto the set. They played innocent, asking directions here and there, but little did we know they had other plans. Before we could even blink, they’d sped off, leaving behind a trail of shocked faces and a heavy heart, for they made away with our precious equipment – gear that wasn’t cheap! Oh, the thrill of it all still sends shivers down my spine!
According to the source, when the conversation turned to the incident, it seemed as though their inquiries diverted attention. At that precise instant, another individual unexpectedly snatched a bag filled with camera gear that was placed by the roadside.
He quickly got back into the vehicle, and they swiftly drove away. The security personnel became increasingly agitated as they realized that a robbery had occurred right in front of them during daytime hours.
‘It was pretty embarrassing and a costly mistake. The kit on those films isn’t cheap.’
The director behind Snatch is hopeful that the series will prove popular, as his previous work, The Gentleman, has enjoyed success since its release this year.
In late July, the highly popular show shattered Netflix viewing records, amassing a staggering 44 million views within only four short weeks.
