Pierce Brosnan, 71, Shares Bond Face Injury and Talks Possible Return as Older 007

In a recent interview, Pierce Brosnan discussed the most surprising moment during his time as James Bond and shared thoughts on potentially rejoining the 007 series.

During his upcoming interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, the 71-year-old actor disclosed a shocking accident that occurred during filming on a boat, leaving him with a gruesome wound.

When inquired about an injury, he responds: “Indeed, I was. The boat veered off course and collided with a restaurant, causing a piece of wood to cut my face. Consequently, I had to rush to the hospital for stitches.

Pierce notes: ‘You learn to cope with the wounds. Daniel [Craig] tackled everything head-on. He was simply outstanding. His bravery to endure so much and take on such a role was truly awe-inspiring. Performing that character, you’re bound to get hurt; there’s no doubt about it. You need strength and resilience.’

Earlier, it was disclosed that during the making of Tomorrow Never Dies, Pierce unintentionally got hit in the face by a stunt person.

1. The accident resulted in a noticeable scar just above his upper lip. To conceal the fresh wound, the movie’s shots were taken primarily from his left side during filming.

2. The incident resulted in a prominent scar above his lip. Since the cameras needed to hide the recent injury, the movie was mostly filmed from his left side.

3. The accident caused quite an obvious scar right about his lip. To avoid capturing the new injury on camera, the film’s sequences were predominantly shot from his left side during production.

4. The mishap resulted in a conspicuous scar above his upper lip. In order to keep the camera from recording the fresh wound, the movie was mainly filmed from his left side.

5. The accident resulted in a prominent mark on the area just above his lip. To prevent this injury from being caught by the camera during filming, the shots were mostly taken from his left side.

As a diehard fan, I can’t help but share my thoughts on those whispers about me stepping into an older Bond role! Honestly, nobody’s approached me yet, but I’ve certainly caught wind of all the speculation.

After that, he mentions: ‘I won’t be the one taking on this task. I have no intention of getting involved. I’m content with where my career is now. I’ve already accomplished it, and it was an amazing experience. It’s quite pleasant to imagine doing it again.’

Additionally, Pierce shared some standout memories, mentioning that riding the speedboat along the River Thames was quite awe-inspiring.

On a Monday morning, I found myself aboard the vessel, indeed. As I bid farewell to my wife and children, I noticed multiple oxygen tanks scattered around. I was securely fastened twice over for safety.

They warned, ‘If you vomit, it might require a trip to the hospital for your stomach to be emptied.’ I still remember that clearly.

The celebrity reminisced warmly about receiving recognition for portraying James Bond; he commented, “People recognize me, and Bond is always by my side. It was wonderful, a truly enchanting period of my existence.

‘It provided numerous opportunities and enabled me to establish my own production company and direct films like ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ and ‘The Matador’. It also opened up a new acting landscape for me, offering me a wide range of roles.’

In regards to speculation, Aaron Taylor-Johnson himself comments: ‘I believe he could play an exceptional Bond. Interestingly enough, he appeared in one of my films titled “The Greatest”, where we cast him as the lead character.’

He truly stood out back then; he exuded an aura of charm and authority that made him seem like a strong candidate. However, I’m confident there are numerous other qualified individuals on the list as well.

Pierce shared that he might not have influenced Daniel’s decision, but rather they had a discussion about the role. He encouraged Daniel by saying, “You’ve got what it takes, go for it! Seize the opportunity.

As a lifestyle expert, let me share my thoughts on the latest project I’m involved with – the enthralling Paramount+ series, MobLand. Sharing screen time with the legendary Dame Helen Mirren and the formidable Tom Hardy, this series is a captivating blend of North London and South London, but with an unexpected twist: it follows an Irish family. Initially, I thought I’d be slipping into an English accent for my role. However, Guy Ritchie, our talented director, reassured me, saying, ‘Fret not, we’ll take care of it on the day, just let it go for now.’

He said, ‘Don’t worry we’ll sort it out on the day, put it out of your mind.’

For the following five weeks, Pierce recounts that he had concerns. On the first day, it was just Tom Hardy and himself, with a three-page scene. Ritchie instructed them, ‘Go Irish, be more Irish.’ However, Pierce can’t recall what his Irish accent would sound like.

Pierce recounts that for the next five weeks he had concerns. On day one, it was only Tom Hardy and himself, with a three-page scene. Ritchie told them to ‘Go Irish, be more Irish.’ Unfortunately, Pierce can’t remember what his Irish accent would sound like.

Instead of saying it’s not that strong, you could say it wasn’t very pronounced.

I didn’t have a particularly strong Kerry accent… so I reached out to my good friend who is an expert in dialects and asked him for help. I explained, ‘I need a Kerry accent.’ He replied with a suggestion, ‘Check out this individual.’ Following his advice, I studied the Kerry accent and managed to pick it up quite quickly. Within fifteen minutes, everything fell into place.

As a devoted admirer, let me share an interesting tidbit about my acting journey. In one of my earliest films, titled “The Long Good Friday,” I had the honor of working alongside Dame Helen. However, our paths hadn’t crossed since then. Fast forward to last year, we reunited in the adaptation of Richard Osman’s “The Thursday Murder Club.

Pierce shared that he doesn’t enjoy watching himself perform, finding it quite uncomfortable. However, he expressed satisfaction with his performance, considering it to be powerful work. He praised the entire cast, stating they were all exceptional. Working alongside Helen was a cherished experience for him, as they spent their summer together on the set of Thursday Murder Club.

Towards the end of the program, Pierce talks about transitioning from romantic leads to playing father figures in roles: “Absolutely, yes, I’m experiencing this shift right now. As your career progresses, you naturally move beyond a certain age bracket. It’s as straightforward as that. You just have to learn to accept it.

Reflecting on the delightful experience of filming Mamma Mia!, I can’t help but express how criminally enjoyable it was. Truth be told, the fun we indulged in wasn’t much acting at all; rather, it was pure, unadulterated pleasure that ranks among the highest points of my career as an actor. Here’s hoping there will be a third installment!

Apart from sharing that he screened the film at Barbra Streisand’s home because she wanted to see it, he also shares an amusing story about the encounter: ‘Barbra had me sit next to her on the couch. She said, “Marvelous, dear.” She had a small dog. I patted her knee and then the dog nipped me, causing a small injury! That’s my tale of showing Streisand [the movie].’
