Photos: Hulk Hogan’s Life In and Out of the Wrestling Ring
Outside the wrestling ring, Hulk Hogan’s influence was just as significant as during his face-offs with opponents within the ropes.

On the chilly night of January 27th, 2012, in the bustling city of Manchester, England, I had the privilege of witnessing an unforgettable six-man tag team match for TNA Wrestling. Teaming up with James Storm and the legendary Sting, the one and only Hulk Hogan squared off against Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, and the formidable Kurt Angle. Together, we cheered as Hogan, Storm, and Sting triumphed in this epic battle.

10 TV Shows People Love to Hate-Watch
1. And Just Like That…
As a die-hard fan of “Sex and the City,” I must confess that the HBO series, which premiered in 1998, was groundbreaking and fearlessly tackled subjects like romance, sex, careers, and friendship. However, its reboot, “And Just Like That,” seems to have missed the mark for many of us. One glaring issue is the absence of Kim Cattrall’s iconic character Samantha Jones, arguably the series’ best creation (though I won’t deny a friendly debate on this topic).
The revival has certainly managed to irk fans in various ways, such as undermining some of its strongest characters (where is my strong-willed Miranda?), killing off others, or stripping their personalities bare. The fashion, once the epitome of trend-setting style, now feels more like a parody, and the dialogue is drenched in clichés that would make any romance novel seem fresh by comparison.
Despite all this, I find myself oddly compelled to keep watching, ensnared by the lure of nostalgia. It’s as if I’m drawn like a helpless moth to the flame.
2. American Horror Story
The first seasons of “American Horror Story,” from “Murder House” to “Freak Show,” were almost flawlessly terrifying yet entertainingly spooky, boasting an impressive ensemble of stars. However, things appeared to shift. While there were exceptional performances, like Lady Gaga in “Hotel,” and occasional highlights, the horror anthology series by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk has seemed to swap intricate storytelling for excessive shock tactics and blatant social commentary.
Over time, what was once a captivating horror experience morphed into a generic haunted house with kitschy decorations from a discount party store, due to incomplete plotlines, recurring characters, and illogical writing. Despite this, some viewers have persisted, holding on to the fervent hope of a reversion to its initial quality.
3. Riverdale
How did a seemingly ordinary murder mystery set in the 1940s comics-inspired world of Riverdale unexpectedly veer into the excessively supernatural? The unconventional and surreal storylines of this teen drama are not for the timid or those seeking even a hint of realism.
Across seven seasons that tested viewers’ sanity, the show started as a group of high school friends investigating a local murder. However, it quickly morphed into something far from its original premise. Each subsequent season became increasingly bizarre and complex, with dialogue to match. Organ-harvesting cults, alien abductions, witchcraft, superpowers, time travel – the list goes on. And did I mention the show is based on Archie comics? Although Riverdale retained a loyal fanbase, some viewers can’t help but watch out of an almost macabre fascination.
4. Emily in Paris
In a unique twist, there’s something captivating about a main character you find yourself not wanting to support. It’s not that Emily from Netflix’s show “Emily in Paris” is a malicious person; on the contrary, she appears to be well-intentioned and quite likable. However, just like when an unproductive colleague gets promoted, it’s disheartening to see someone so woefully inept at their job receive undeserved opportunities.
Despite the constant accolades and chances bestowed upon her, Emily is abysmal at her high-profile PR position in Paris, a city she breezes through with minimal effort towards language learning or cultural assimilation. Though her intentions are frequently noble, she interferes excessively with people’s careers and relationships, becoming increasingly annoying, and makes some rather perplexing decisions (including in fashion), making for an unlikeable protagonist. As for the series itself, the storyline is far-fetched, the fashion is a garish display reminiscent of an influencer’s closet, and the dialogue is delightfully cheesy, making it ideal for mindless, so-bad-it’s-good entertainment.
5. Grey’s Anatomy
Although “Grey’s Anatomy” remains one of television’s most popular shows, it doesn’t mean it’s without flaws. After 21 seasons and more to come, some viewers find themselves stuck in a cycle of hate-watching this long-lasting medical series out of loyalty, despite its deteriorating quality and the recurrence of predictable storylines and characters that can be quite annoying.
Some fans enjoy criticizing the show’s unrealistic medical cases (Yes, we know it’s not real life, Reddit community), while others find entertainment in the excessive drama, awkward dialogue, and infuriatingly dysfunctional characters who should have learned better by now. In summary, for many viewers, “Grey’s Anatomy” is a harmless guilty pleasure.
6. The Idol
The unfortunate fate of many TV shows is being branded “dull,” but that was the verdict for Sam Levinson’s short-lived music industry drama, “The Idol.” This five-episode series on HBO, which ended after a single season in 2023 following poor critical reception, centers around a troubled pop star’s involvement with a morally questionable nightclub owner turned cult leader. The controversial character played by co-creator and singer The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) was so distasteful it caused controversy – yet curiosity too.
The show, characterized as perverse and devoid of joy in the pursuit of boundary-pushing, crumbles under its own overzealous attempt at ambition. Most viewers tuned in not for a compelling or skillfully acted series with something meaningful to convey, but rather to witness the superficial, sexually explicit train wreck on television that they could discuss on social media.
7. Invasion
Some viewers find this Apple TV+ sci-fi alien invasion thriller unoriginal and predictable, with questionable performances and implausible plotlines that don’t seem to lead anywhere. Despite these criticisms, many fans continue to watch the show.
For some, they have invested too much time in a series that initially showed promise and might as well finish it. Others enjoy discussing their critiques of the show on forums and social media, where they dissect the series with fellow fans. Additionally, there are those who appreciate having another TV show about aliens, given the scarcity of such productions in recent years. Regardless of the reason, viewers of Invasion keep tuning in, which may be why the series has been renewed for a third season.
8. The Walking Dead
As a devoted fan, I’ve followed “The Walking Dead” for 12 years now, and while I appreciate its overall solidity, I can’t deny that it’s had its share of issues. This horror-drama series, which spawned an extensive media franchise with spinoff shows, has been my companion through the post-zombie apocalypse, following a group of survivors.
However, much like the decaying walkers in the show, some fans argue that over time, the series lost its initial pace and impact. The decline in storytelling quality in later seasons is often cited as the reason, with repetitive plotlines, less engaging characters, increasingly grim story arcs, and an excess of violence and gore being pointed out.
Many viewers on social media pinpoint Season 7, especially Glenn’s gruesome demise at Negan’s hands, as a turning point that left a bitter taste. Yet, despite these criticisms, the show managed to retain its audience, with some of us perhaps falling victim to the sunk-cost fallacy – continuing to invest our time and emotions, even when our initial enthusiasm waned or turned into disinterest.
9. Dawson’s Creek
The popular teen drama series from the Y2K era, “Dawson’s Creek,” is often remembered for its blend of teenage angst, romantic melodrama, small-town New England charm, and good-looking cast. Although some watch it due to nostalgia or fear of missing out on the ’90s, many new viewers actually enjoy hate-watching the love triangle between Joey, Dawson, and Pacey, among other aspects they find questionable in this soap opera.
The show has faced criticism for its title character being arrogant, self-righteous, and annoying to watch. Some have also criticized how it handles complex issues and themes. The series is known for problematic storylines, characters who talk too much for their age, and a whiny Nice Guy protagonist. These aspects make it irresistible for some fans to express their dislike towards “Dawson’s Creek.”
10. Girls
Lena Dunham’s show “Girls,” which aired on HBO in 2012, is like a snapshot of millennial anxiety from the 2010s. The writing is raw and satirical, making some scenes uncomfortable to watch but hard to turn away from, as the main characters navigate friendship, love, self-doubt, work issues, and existential fears typical of their generation.
Although it was praised by critics when it first aired, “Girls” has sparked mixed feelings among fans. They either love or hate the show due to its honest portrayal of imperfect, often unlikeable characters like Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna. These women are toxic friends who make questionable decisions and mistakes as they navigate their 20s, but this is what makes them intriguing to watch.
The show features cringeworthy moments such as Marnie’s failed music career and Hannah’s numerous romantic humiliations. It pushes viewers to show empathy while watching, with many following the series for six seasons, rooting both for and against these hipster protagonists.
